A very enjoyable and informative making of documentary

This lively and engrossing documentary gives viewers a nice and illuminating glimpse into the making of the low-budget slasher flick "Hatchet." Among the folks interviewed are eager, dynamic writer/director Adam Green, cute, enthusiastic producer Sarah Elbert, likable and resourceful cinematographer Will Barratt, the engagingly nerdy Joel David Moore, charming Dean Richmond, affable Robert Englund, the ever-cool Kane Hodder (who was happy to play both the monstrous Victor Crowley and Victor's normal human father), fetching Tamara Feldman, funny Parry Shen, luscious Joleigh Fioreavanti, and the adorable Mercedes McNab. Among the topics discussed are how Green first got the idea for the story after hearing a creepy campfire tale at summercamp at age eight, the filmmakers made a promo teaser trailer in order to entice financial backers to put money into the project (the little girl used for the voice-over in said trailer was also retained as the narrator for the actual finished film), Green defending his use of humor in a horror movie, the swamp-set feature was really shot in the desert, how Green's tremendous passion and energy helped maintain a great atmosphere on the set, various crew members did bit parts in the flick, Hodder wouldn't let anyone see him in his Crowley make-up until it was time to shoot scenes as Crowley with the other cast members, and that the cast and crew had a total blast making the picture. Moreover, we also see lots of neat behind-the-scenes photos and footage. Essential viewing for fans of the film.
