This is one of a bunch of cheap and ragged, but still spirited and enjoyable short movies longtime horror fan and independent filmmaker Donald F. Glut made back in the 50s and 60s. The evil Gorilla Gang is terrorizing the city of Metropolis with the help of their ferocious ape Kogar (expertly played with grunting élan by ubiquitous simian thespian Bob Burns). Newspaper reporter Lois Lane and photographer Jimmy Olsen run afoul of the Gorilla Gang. Superman (boyishly handsome stuntman Bart Andrews) flies to their rescue. Veteran bad guy character actors Roy Barcroft and Kenne Duncan portray members of the no-count Gorilla Gang. Sure, this snappy and affectionate little five minute homage to vintage old serial chapter plays is very crude and rough around the edges, but the scratchy black and white cinematography, goofy amplified sound effects, speedy nonstop pace and robust, rousing, hard-charging full-bore score all add immensely to the considerable silly charm of this delightfully dippy hoot.
