The opening clip of "Inga" had Captain Pierce preparing for his rendezvous with Nurse Inga Halverson. Captain Pierce -- in his usual self -- had one thing in mind. admiration of Inga Halverson. Without any warning, Nurse Inga Halverson -- from the Swedish Red Cross -- arrived at the 4077th to fulfill her job as a female surgeon ... all while on temporary assignment. Captain Hunnicutt and Major Winchester then introduced themselves to Nurse Halverson.
During Act One, Nurse Halverson demonstrated a new surgical technique to reconstruct the knee while in surgery. Captain Pierce became surprised about the way she showed him in surgery. In all actuality, Actress Mariette Hartley performed brilliantly in her role as Nurse Inga Halverson. She endured a crisis -- in her role -- of how people make her work miserable as a nurse. People did not understand that a woman's perspective as a nurse consisted more than the admiration of her body.
