Review of Silent Voyeur

Silent Voyeur (2004)

This film surprised me. I just finished watching Silent Voyeur and, Wow. I liked the way it drew the audience into the plot by making us passive viewers of atrocities, just as in everyday life. I am currently reading Denial of Death by Becker. One of the main themes is that the human animal deals with the real fear of existence by transferring power to others and then attempting to manipulate them. Tanner was just doing what most of us do, but with fewer inhibitions. I liked that he moved from "controlling" the extremely innocent through the camera man to the executive. In a strange way, it was a form of dark evolution of consciousness. Silent Voyeur left me with the same echoing sensations and awe I got from Memento.
