H. P. Lovecraft's "From Beyond"

Warning: Spoilers
I don't think this strictly counts as a spoiler but I'm covering my assets.

This story is a clear adaptation of H. P. Lovecraft's "From Beyond". In that story, a research creates a device described as the "resonator" that produces a violet glow that stimulates the pineal gland of nearby humans so that they can see and be perceived by extra-dimensional creatures.

The Ancients' device is clearly the "resonator", though while in this adaptation the creatures are still attracted to the resonator and seem to perceive objects and humans, they don't attack the latter. The original story doesn't have the separate element of the "contagious charge" that propagates the ability to see the creatures.

It would have been nice for the SG1 folks to have credited Lovecraft's story.
