Review of Saw III

Saw III (2006)
8/10
more violence, more gore, more twists and turns
27 March 2007
In this 3rd edition of Saw movies, most of the 'work' is done by Jigsaw's apprentice Amanda, as Jigsaw spends whole of the movie on the bed, counting last hours of his life. I would like to say that anyone who has not watched the earlier editions of this series, should watch them first before watching this one, otherwise you won't have a clue as to what is going on.

Amanda kidnaps a lady doctor and her challenge is to keep Jigsaw alive till a guy who is located in some other place, passes his 'tests'. That guy is Jeff who had lost his young son a few years ago and since then he has been looking for revenge. In his tests, he will come up against people who were, in one way or another, responsible for the death of his son and he will be the one to decide their fate, whether to let them die or to forgive and save them. Watch out for some unexpected twists at the climax.

There is lots of blood, gore and innovative traps. There is some amount of nudity as well. This may be because the filmmakers were not so sure about whether they will be able to draw audience to the theaters one more time. Some of the questions that had remained unanswered in the 1st and 2nd edition, (which most people, including myself, thought were the flaws in the script) have been answered in this edition in the form of flashbacks.

In the end, if you liked the two earlier editions, then you'll like this one too.
