A Bell From Hell is a French/Italian production about a young man who has been put into a mental institution because of his rather sadistic "unfunny" practical jokes that he has been playing on people. He has been granted a pass to be able to go back into society as long as he checks in with them once a week. From there we learn that he has had a very care free past, his mother has died and a very suspicious acting aunt and her 3 daughters are his only family that have anything to do with him and it may only be for his inheritance..or is it.
The movie plays on several levels from "are the relatives up to something" to "is this boy really nuts". The movie itself plays out good but I felt it could have come out even better if certain things would have emerged from the script. Otherwise this is definitely a good movie to check out if your a fan of Italian Giallo films or any of the works of Mario Bava.
7/10 - An interesting horror/thriller with very little gore for the gore hounds but makes up for it with a twisted turning story.
