Pokémon Gold Version (1999 Video Game)
This game was good in it's time.
7 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The Pokemon series was going places in the late 90's early 2000,Gold & Silver are the follow games to blue and red version on the gameboy (Blue version was green version in Japan).

The games feature exactly 100 new pokemon to go with the Pokemon from the original games, after the games were published as well,Pokemon Johto Journeys came out on the TV,but unlike the first series,it went straight to Sky mostly. The games also featured colour unlike the original games (If you played red or blue on a gameboy Colour or a more advanced edition of the Gameboy, you see a lot of red or blue for colour).

The games are a lot bigger than the original ones, you can also link up with the N64 via a transfer pack to Pokemon Stadium 2,Pokemon Stadium can't support the graphics of the games and the new stuff in the games.

More differences in this game as well, you collect sixteen badges instead of eight, half before and after the Pokemon League (which is a lot weaker than the one from Red & Blue),after you've accomplished this you can go to a secluded area of the game where Ash is at (he's named Red in the game, and Gary is named Blue),he is the ultimate battle in the game.

The new Pokemon and colour with the improved graphics make these games a whorthwhile play, however since 2000,several other Gameboy Pokemon games have come out for the GBA,and Crystal (Gold & Silver's successor) also came out in 2001-2.All of the games that came out after are a much better buy,but fans of the series who own quite a lot of the games including these games, will be tempted now and again to pull them out and take a whirl on their old memory.

The problem was that Crystal came out to soon for anyone to really start buying these games and getting a decent percent complete, and after a year and a half of Crystals release,Ruby and Sapphire came out and they also stopped them from selling as much as they should of.

Gold & Silver are old and dated heavily,if got them, take them for a whirl now and again, but if you haven't,just borrow, but never buy.
