Review of Mother's Day

Mother's Day (1948)
Twisted!
20 December 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Every line a spoiler, you just can't Imagine!

Legend has it the premiere caused a riot in the theater! I saw this film a few times at SF State back in the days before AIDS. It was usually shown with Meshes of an Afternoon and The Bed.

This is a haunting of all the skeletons in your family closet. Dare to see it the Saturday before Mothers' Day. If you can sit through it the first time, you will look forward to any opportunity the next time to see it.

Black and white beauty of Gay '90's costumes and Victorian Facades. Mother, children, and props in tableaux reminiscent of stereoscopes in Hoosier Sitting Rooms. Starched and mannered portraits of the Immaculent Conception that is you! For how long did I believe THAT!?!?
