If you were trapped on a desert island with a choice of only one movie and you were hoping to find something that would drive you mad fastest, look to this pathetic version of antigone. it succeeds in transforming the tale of a woman who was passionate about her beliefs and family and her trapped sister to a tale of dumb(bipolar) and dumber (Ismene as a shallow annoyance who shows up in this film to point out the obvious and irritate the audience so we hope that she gets stampeded by wild horses in the end... alas she does not. too bad. may have made this discredit to sophocle's genius more exciting.
