The Last Drive-In I found this in a video store in Phuket, Thailand. I was ecstatic to find out that it was set in Orange County, California, where I grew up. And there is a lot of cool going-down-memory-road in it. Disneyland fireworks and drive-ins were part of the soundtrack to my teen-age years. But this movie suffers in the woeful art direction and the fact that none of the characters are that interesting or say anything of meaning. It seemed to me a very well-intentioned but poorly executed movie. The writing was really bad and the lead character was so uninteresting that i found myself fast forwarding through his scenes. I've tried to use this movie to teach some of my children English but they've been very bored by it and it hasn't worked. Still, i give it up to people who want to do this sort of thing.
