Yes, this movie is R rated for a reason. Yes, I knew not to expect a traditional feel good movie. But sorry, to me, this movie was bad and unredeemable. I went to this movie expecting the cussing, expecting the sexual content, and expecting some very bad characters. However, all the cussing, sex, drunkeness, etc seemed gratuious to the point of making it all unbelievable. I am one of those people who happens to like unbelieavable and unrealistic movies, as long as the movie is entertaining and good. This was not.
What made the movie so unbelievable was not that the Santa character (Billy Bob) was a drunken, deplorable, sleaze (good acting by the way Billy Bob), but that he would last one second in a Dept store, interacting with children while acting and looking the way he did! With the media being the way it is today, there should have been a scene in the movie where the news did a segment on the bad santa at some point (that is what happened here in my home town in real life, except for this actual person did all his bad stuff while off of Santa Duty).
There were some funny things and some scenes I could not help but to laugh at. But that does not make me rank it as a good movie. Let's say I by far cringed more in the movie than I did laugh. My husband debated leaving during the movie, but we paid too much money on it (not to mention our food) to just get up and leave.
