Surpassed original by a mile!

This film is definitely one of the best films of the year! As a classic John Woo film (lots of action and fighting, not a plot that is likely to up for an oscar), it should attract not only Mission Impossible fans but also die hard fans of the diverse director. The film begins, and all the people expecting action are relieved, as we are not only confronted with major fighting scenes, but Tom Cruise climbing up the side of a cliff. This particular scene takes your breath away, as you hang on Tom Cruise' every movement, and pray he doesn't fall, even though you know he wont. The film moves on and we are treated (well, at least the John Woo fans are) to a spectacle of action, stunts, special effects and beautiful direction, all leading to a climax. The final 20 minutes have you on the edge of your seat, even though you know a convenient ending is inevitible. As Tom Cruise battles it out with his arch enemy played by Dougray Scott, John Woo's talent for directing action movies becomes even more apparent.

I would also like to mention Thandie Newton, as she played the perfect 'damsel-in-distress' and performed her key role in the film with particular conviction (not to mention how hot she looks).

Overall this film has a fairly weak plot, but who cares, we weren't expecting an emotional masterpiece. I give 8/10.
