A Wreath of Roses (1987 TV Movie)
Excellent adaptation of the disturbing novel: restrained, sympathetic, gripping and very sad.

An excellent adaptation of Elizabeth Taylor's disturbing novel. Trevor Eve is particularly haunting as the mentally unbalanced young poser, who draws the reluctant Joanna McCallum into a doomed relationship. The remarkable restraint and sympathy with which the unhappy characters are portrayed, and the gradual build-up of the ugly tension which underscores their lives in the pretty little English town, creates a drama that's both gripping and genuinely sad.
