Cheers (1982–1993)
making your way in the world today......

What can I honestly saw about this series, I'm going as far as to say one of the best series to ever come out of America. In the course of a few moments I can think of many classic scenes- the one where woody fell asleep with his eyes open while standing at the bar, Rebecca trying to impress Robin Colcord, Cliff, Norm and Frasier's contest to see who could grow a beard and moustache, Sam, Carla vs Diane and eventually Rebecca, the list is endless.

The idea itself was very simple, the lives of the patrons and customers at the local bar in Boston. The location is great (under a fancy restaurant) and the combination of characters, simply amazing. Sam, the retired baseball player and former alcoholic, with a passion for women, who runs a bar, Carla with her long name and many kids and agressive no nonsense attitude, Norm who props up the bar with a wife vera, never once seen in 11yrs, Cliff the sad postal worker and often the butt of everyone's jokes, Dr Crane whose love for Diane led him to be a regular, meet Lillith, have Frederick and divorce Lillith and of the course, the ever slow ever lovable Woody, from Hanover. In one sense these characters were never destined to get along, but by god do they, one of the highlights for me was the nature of Sam and Carla's friendship, which was one of the best ever.

It was amazingly simple and amazingly successful, I cancelled my life to watch the episode in 'Frasier', when Sam and Norm turned up!!This is a landmark series and in my opinion set a high standard for the nature of the American sitcom.
