After seeing him in The Hustler, Patton, and A Christmas Carol (his greatest role), I thought that those were his best acting jobs until I came across this film. Now there are 4 great George C. Scott performances (I would include 12 Angry Men and Inherit The Wind but you know how I feel about remakes)! He plays a deeply religious man who tries to find his missing teenage daughter who ran away from home and went to the big city to be a porno star. A good movie all around with satisfactory acting jobs from Scott, Peter Boyle (Wizard from "Taxi Driver" and Joe from "Joe") who plays a detective Scott hires to find his daughter, and all of the pimps, porno producers, hookers, and street trash that are in the whole movie. 8mm with Nicholas Cage was very similar. I think 8mm got it's basic plot from Hardcore. No doubt about it.
