Cheesy Fun
11 January 2004
If your looking for a gory, mindless zombie flick that has undead action right off the bat, then your not going to find it here.

This film, like alot of drive-in trash, is so badly scripted and plotted out that it usually only appeals to the fine tuned tastes of a horror guru.

With that said, it's a riot. The premise is simple. A group of drama students and inspiring actors decide to have fun on a burial island situated somewhere out from the local docks. They eventually end up dabbling in the occult in hopes of rising the dead from their graves.

The first three quarters of the film is filled with idle chatter and bad dialogue. It's laughable, but that's all a matter of taste. The cheese is what drives this movie, and it has enough of it to go around.

Once the zombies start to rise, the atmosphere darkens and from there all hell breaks loose. The classic house setting (reminiscent to NOTLD) plays a huge part in the events leading to the end. The zombie make-up effects aren't comparable to the masterful work of Tom Savini; Day Of The Dead or Night Of The Living Dead Remake. But when put up next to the zombie flicks like Zombie and the original NOTLD, they stand up pretty well. The realism of the dead ripping their way out from the earth (in Children Shouldn't Play) is one of the best examples of superb undead mannerism.

Flesh wounds and gore scenes are lacking. But the implications are enough to supply the chills and support the atmosphere.

I suggest you check this one out if your a good horror fan or out for a few quick thrills.
