Fair Steve Reeves Outing
20 June 2004
Warning: Spoilers
WARNING: I might unintentionally include spoilers The White Warrior is a fair outing by Steve Reeves. I am a huge fan of his and eagerly await the release of all his films on DVD. This movie has the Steve Reeves charm, and an interesting story premise, but little else.

The story is a neat idea, the expansion of the Czarist Empire in the mid-19th century, and its effects on the people in the conquered territories. According to the credits it is even adapted from the book by Tolstoy, Hadji Murad. But it falls short, there isn't a whole lot of action for a war film, and the drama is only melodramatic at best.

But it keeps the classic Steve Reeves formula, the great physique, the slightly overdone acting, and the dubbing. My rating two out of four stars, it is a fair film, worth watching occasionally. By the way if you are at all interested in what Steve's voice really sounded like check out either the Ed Wood film Jailbait or the MGM musical Athena.
