This is one of the finest Corman films every made and a delight of 1950's atomic age beast nightmares. Originally on a double bill with the equally fun Not of the Earth, Crab Monsters tells the story of a group of scientists on an isolated island studying the effects of atomic fall out.
Hiding in coastal caves are giant, mutated, paper mache crabs. But they aren't only big and deadly, they have developed useful skills. It seems they decapitate their victims (and one is shown in shocking detail for '57), and absorb their brains. They are able to psychically use the departed's voice to lure more victims to their lair.
It's a short, claustrophobic, low budget, campy film that I highly recommend to people who like fifties horror films and Corman's Bucket of Blood, and Little Shop of Horrors.
