The Clock (1945)
lovely!
8 December 2002
A sweet wartime romance that didn't hit you on the head with its ideas.Judy Garland and Robert Walker are just right as the young lovers who agree to marry on short notice.Ah,the romance of movies! Walker is gawky and clumsy as the young soldier,Garland strikes a right note as an ordinary secretary. They seem so real and touching together. The NY background becomes a part of their story.Especially love the scene where Walker sees a guy buying flowers for his girl's hair and holds her mirror so she can put it on.Walker buys flowers and shyly asks Alice if he can hold her mirror.so sweet. Admittedly some of the scenes are a bit precious, but the final scene where Garland is swallowed up in the vast crowd at the train station is awesome.
