The revival of “American Idol” on ABC is following the same format as did on Fox for 15 seasons. On the April 2 episode, host Ryan Seacrest will reveal the Top 24 contestants, who will then fight it out over four episodes for a place in the live shows that start on April 22. These two dozen hopefuls were culled from the Top 50 that were revealed on the April 1 episode. To cut this number by more than half, the three judges — Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie — had the contestants sing again.
The Top 50, which was made up of 26 men and 24 women, took to the stage at the Exchange club in downtown Los Angeles on Feb. 8. If you can’t wait till Monday night to learn the results, scroll down to see the names of the 12 men and 12 women that made it through to the Top 24 as well as the songs they sung...

“American Idol” may be on a new network (ABC) but has the same host (Ryan Seacrest) and is following the same format that worked so well for 15 seasons on Fox. After five episodes devoted to the auditions, the show shifted to Hollywood where 169 hopefuls had to sing once again for the three judges: Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
The first of the Hollywood week episodes, in which the contestants sang in groups of 10 and solo, aired on March 26 and April 1. Only 50 of these contestants were given the chance to be showcased in solo performances that determined the top 24. Those Top 50 took to the stage at the Exchange club in downtown Los Angeles on Feb. 8.
The episode featuring these performances will air on April 2. If you can’t wait for the results, scroll down to see the roster of 26 men who performed, the songs they sung and their eventual...

ABC’s new incarnation of the singing competition allows contestants to audition with instruments, and the Sposato brothers basically came through as a full band, carrying a saxophone and trumpet. With their father accompanying them on guitar, the 17-year-olds from Malibu traded off singing lead on Mars’ “Runaway Baby.” Even though judge Katy Perry made it clear the duo would be evaluated as individuals, she and the panel didn’t seem to have much to say but across-the-board...
