“Vikings: Valhalla” returns with its second season Jan. 12, but Variety has the exclusive first look at the “Vikings” prequel’s Season 2 trailer to tide fans over for another month.
Based on the History Channel series “Vikings” created by Michael Hirst, “Vikings: Valhalla” is set over a thousand years ago in the early 11th century and chronicles the heroic adventures of some of the most famous Vikings who ever lived — the legendary explorer Leif Eriksson (Sam Corlett), his fiery and headstrong sister Freydis Eriksdotter (Frida Gustavsson) and the ambitious Nordic prince Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter).
The second season, which consists of eight episodes running 49 minutes each, finds our heroes shortly after the tragic fall of Kattegat; an event that has shattered their dreams and altered their destinies, per Netflix’s official description. Finding themselves suddenly fugitives in Scandinavia they are forced to test their ambitions and courage in worlds beyond the fjords of Kattegat.

Terrific, smart, and Very bloody. That is, in a nutshell, Stephen King’s review of the three-part Dracula series currently playing across Netflix and the BBC.
The master of horror himself took to Twitter late last week to shower praise on Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss’ gothic reimagining, and if that isn’t a ringing endorsement for Dracula, we don’t know what is.
While it’s been billed as a modern-day incarnation of Bram Stoker’s blood-sucker, Moffat and Gatiss’ three-part drama is still rooted in the Victorian era, where Danish actor Claes Bang steps out of the shadows as the cunning Count. According to the show’s creators, the vision was to create a story in which Dracula is the lead character – as opposed to some fantastical, shadowy figure who resides in darkness – meaning that Moffat and Gatiss have naturally taken some liberties when it comes to the source material.

The soon-to-be-released reimagining of Bram Stoker’s gothic creation comes from the minds of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, who are perhaps best known for their work on Sherlock. And much like the resident detective of 221b Baker Street, Dracula will enjoy its premiere on BBC One come New Year’s Day, before expanding to an international release courtesy of Netflix on January 4th.
Either way, Gatiss and Moffat’s delightfully dark series, which is comprised of just three episodes in total, is almost upon us, and to stir excitement, the Powers That Be have today unleashed a helping of images introducing Bang’s blood-sucker and the show’s supporting players, including John Heffernan (Jonathan Harker), Dolly Wells (Sister Agatha), Joanna Scanlan...

The BBC’s upcoming Dracula reimagining has announced a batch of new cast members, and it seems showrunners Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have brought with them some old co-stars from past TV series they’ve worked on.
Sherlock fans who were already looking forward to the drama, as it’s being positioned as something of a sister show to the hit detective series, will be pleased to find out that Anderson himself, Jonathan Aris, is joining the cast. Aris starred on all four seasons of Sherlock as the forensics expert who has a rivalry with Benedict Cumberbatch’s sleuth.
Sacha Dhawan is also signing up for the Victorian-set supernatural drama. Best know to audiences as Davos in Marvel’s Iron Fist, the actor also has Sherlock pedigree as he was the killer in season 4’s “The Six Thatchers.” Alongside Aris and Dhawan, three more stars have been announced as well: Catherine Schell,...

With Sherlock on indefinite hiatus, creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have moved on to reimagine another classic literary character for modern audiences instead in their upcoming Dracula TV series. Fans were hoping that maybe the detective himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, would be part of the cast, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. He’s there in spirit, though, as it seems the actor was inadvertently the inspiration for the show in the first place.
Speaking at the BFI and Radio Times Festival, Gatiss explained the unlikely origins of his current project. Apparently, it all began with a snap of Cumberbatch on his phone.
“It came about several years ago. We were filming — we’d just started the third series of Sherlock, where he comes back from the dead, and we had to break off after two days to go to the Rts awards (somebody has to do...

If any entity’s enjoyed its share of exposure in the horror genre over the past century, it’s most certainly that of Dracula. Whether it be an adaptation of Bram Stoker’s classic novel itself or something that takes the character to a completely different place, the worlds of cinema and television aren’t without this fellow for too long.
By now, you may have heard of how a new TV series is currently in the works for BBC and Netflix – and it comes to us from Sherlock creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, no less. Set to leave little room for filler due to its three-episode, 90-minute format, the show features Claes Bang in the titular role.
Obviously, the creative minds behind this thing need a supporting cast to orbit Bang, and they’re wasting no time filling it out. According to Deadline, John Heffernan (The Crown) and...
