Vikings was a massive hit for History when it first launched, and it had a very successful six-season run.
A little over a year later, restarting the franchise is a risky endeavor, but Vikings: Valhalla touches down on Netflix on Friday, February 24, with an eight-episode run.
The good news is that Vikings: Valhalla sets the tone for the rest of the season pretty much off the bat, introducing us to new and familiar locations.
Some of the characters from the original series are mentioned, giving subtle hints about what became of them after Vikings Season 6 Episode 20.
Not enough time has passed to get nostalgic about the original series, but it's clear from the outset that this new series is genuinely a sequel as it has been marketed and not a spinoff with loose ties to the original series.
With an entirely new cast, the new crop of characters are largely a mixed bag,...

Vikings fans holding out to watch the back half of Vikings Season 6B on History Channel, we have some good news.
The cable network has announced the final episodes will begin airing Saturday, June 5th, at 8/7c.
Fans were thrown for a loop in December when Amazon Prime announced it would be taking the rights to Vikings to air on streaming and that it would be launching that month.
"Prime Video has already delighted Prime members with all five and a half seasons of Vikings," said Brad Beale, VP worldwide content licensing at Amazon, said in a statement at the time.
“On Dec. 30, Prime members in the U.S., U.K., Germany, Austria, and Ireland will be the first to learn the fates of the beloved characters as the epic drama concludes in the final 10 episodes."

The first 79 episodes of the Vikings TV show aired on History. The final episodes were then released on Hulu on March 30th and regular cable viewers had to keep waiting.
Well, the long wait is finally over. History has quietly announced that the final episodes of Vikings will begin airing on Saturday, June 5th, at 8/7c.
An action-adventure series, the sixth season of Vikings stars Alexander Ludwig, Alex Høgh Andersen, Peter Franzén, Katheryn Winnick, Jordan Patrick Smith, and Marco Ilsø. This article contains Vikings season 6 spoilers.
With the release of season 6 part two on Dec. 30, Vikings has come to an end. While the spinoff Vikings: Vahalla is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2021, it will pick up the story of the Viking and Anglo-Saxon conflict 100 years after the last events depicted in the original series. Thus the series finale of Vikings means we are saying goodbye to all the characters whose exploits viewers have enjoyed these last seven years. Whether in the flesh or in flashbacks, this is the final farewell. And no character will be missed so much as Lagertha.
When Vikings began, in the spring of 2013, it was a largely misunderstood enterprise. Premiering as it did on the History Channel, a cable channel best known for its WWII/Hitlerian focus in the 90’s and more current shows like Pawn Stars and Swamp People, many assumed that Vikings...

This Vikings season 6 part two review is based on all 10 episodes and contains no spoilers.
Vikings has always been Ragnar Lothbrok’s (Travis Fimmel) story. First, we witnessed the rise of the man himself from farmer to visionary to earl to king to legend. Post-Ragnar, the show became an exploration of how Ragnar’s legend suffused and inhabited his sons, and the consequences of its interpretation upon enemies, frenemies, kith, kin and Kings the world over. And, now, the saga comes to an end with the second half of Vikings swansong sixth season, ten episodes that drip with all the blood, battles, tears, seers, fears, and philosophy you’ve come to expect from the History Channel’s flagship show (though this season will premiere on Amazon).
