Call “Sight” a stealth faith-based movie and you won’t be far off the mark. For the most part, it’s a respectful but unremarkable biopic about Dr. Ming Wang, a Chinese-born, Nashville-based eye surgeon whose innovative use of amniotic membrane contact lenses has helped restore the eyesight of millions of patients, many of them children. But the end, which contains a Qr code much like distributor Angel Studios’ summer blockbuster “Sound of Freedom” did last year, features the real Dr. Wang — one of the film’s executive producers — in a sequence where he credits his success as having been possible “only with God’s grace,” after he was able to “open myself to God.”
Judging from the time-tripping scenario cobbled together by writers John Duigan, Buzz McLaughlin and director Andrew Hyatt, Wang’s road to Damascus was a rugged one. The decades-spanning story covers his traumatic childhood in Hangzhou,...

Former WWE wrestler Sara Lee, who won the sixth season of the reality competition series Tough Enough, died by suicide, according to a just released coroner’s report. As first reported by TMZ, documents from Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office revealed that Lee died after ingesting a lethal combination of alcohol and pills. The report adds that the ex-wrestler had left “letters of intent at the scene” and was found with bruises and abrasions on her head and body. Officials suspected that Lee may have suffered the bruises from a fall or falls while in an intoxicated state. At just 30 years old, Lee’s death shocked the wrestling world last October when news of her passing became public. “As a former ‘Tough Enough’ winner, Lee served as an inspiration to many in the sports-entertainment world,” the WWE said at the time. “WWE offers its heartfelt condolences to her family,...

If you’ve ever been in a crowded parking lot, you’ll surely recognize the inciting incident in Netflix’s Beef: A truck nearly backs into an SUV, which honks extravagantly before speeding off. Maybe you’ll even relate to the impulse to do what the cars do next, even if you’ve never done it yourself: The truck chases the SUV down with the reckless abandon of a Fast & Furious racer, skidding into oncoming traffic and barreling over suburban lawns.
But Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeun), the dueling leads of Beef, take things further still. The encounter precipitates an endless cycle of revenge, during which they deface each other’s property, sabotage each other’s careers, undermine each other’s families. It’s a hilarious premise on its face, and the half-hours fly by as wild twists twists pile up. What’s less expected, however...
