Lahore, March 25 (Ians) Relations between India and Pakistan can improve because of cricket, said former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi.
Afridi's comments come amid speculation of the two countries playing a short bilateral T20I series this year, which would be the first between India and Pakistan since 2012/13.
"Cricket between Pakistan and India is very important. Sports should be kept away from politics. Relations between the two countries can improve because of cricket," Afridi told Cricket Pakistan.
"I have said this before as well, Indian cricketers enjoy coming to Pakistan. You can improve relationships through sports but if you don't want to improve them then they will remain the same way," he further said.
A report in Pakistan's Jang newspaper on Wednesday quoted a Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) official as saying that their cricket board had been asked to "be ready" for a series with India, though no one from India...

Karachi, Feb 28 (Ians) The 2021 Asia Cup could be postponed if India reach the World Test Championship (Wtc) final, said Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) chairman Ehsan Mani.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in June while the Wtc final is slated to be held from June 18-22 at the Lord's in London.
"Asia Cup was set to be held last year, but it got postponed to this year. Right now, it looks like the tournament won't be going ahead this year as the Wtc final is set to go ahead in June. Sri Lanka had said that they would try to host the tournament in June," Mani told reporters in Karachi.
India's victory over England in the third Test of the four-match series earlier this month helped them take a 2-1 lead in the series. They now need only a draw in the fourth Test to qualify...

Lahore, Dec 2 (Ians) Pakistan Cricket Board (Pcb) chief executive Wasim Khan believes there's a possibility that the T20 World Cup, slated to be held next year in India, could be shifted to the United Arab Emirates due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, the International Cricket Council (Icc) had in August this year moved the 2020 T20 World Cup to 2022 while it maintained that India will host the 2021 event in the agreed window from October 17 to November 14, 2021.
In an interview to 'Cricket Baaz' YouTube channel, Khan recently said that the growing number of Covid-19 cases in India pose a health risk, which might force the Icc to shift the mega event from India to UAE.
"There is still some uncertainty over the World T20 being held in India...yes because of the Covid-19 situation there. It could be in UAE," Khan said.
