It was bound to happen.
Bryan once again went off on one of his unauthorized solo missions and this time he got caught on Taken Season 1 Episode 7.
Finally, we got back to Bryan's obsession, Carlos Mejia, at least for a brief time.
The Odni team had gotten late word of a wanted international arms dealer, Tomas Vitek, being sighted in Montreal, then promptly lost again.
Since Mejia is one of Vitek's clients, Christina decided to pump him for information. In a less well-thought move, she sent Bryan to interrogate him, largely as a test.
I'd say he passed that test since he got a lead out of Mejia while leaving relatively few marks.
So the team trailed Vitek to his meet in a convoy of nondescript panel vans. Since Vitek and his men were walking, wouldn't walking have been less conspicuous?
Anyway, Vitek's new client was a lesser mob boss,...

Well, at least Taken sticks with what it does best.
Once again, it's Bryan Mills to the rescue on Taken Season 1 Episode 4.
So, to recap for those who may have missed earlier installments, Bryan is an action hero, so a good three-quarters of each episode focuses on Bryan doing improbable things in pursuit of saving the victim of the week.
The person needing rescuing this time is a tween girl, who, frankly, gets into the action more than Bryan's super-spy teammates, which is a definite flaw in what is supposed to be a series featuring a team.
More on that problem later.
The series continues its tour of television's stock villains. Following a drug lord, a sex-trafficking businessman and coup-plotting government officials, it's Big Pharma this time around.
So, as I understand it, an evil pharmaceutical company has been selling a drug to the military which is supposed to help...

For someone who has spent years in the military, Bryan Mills still has a lot to learn about being a team player.
That's one clear takeaway from his first missions as a member of Christina's super-secret, covert-ops team on Taken Season 1 Episode 2.
It's pretty obvious from the beginning that Bryan was still haunted by his sister Cali's death, and that's going to get in the way of effectively doing his job.
Hell, he would have beaten a man to death during a training mission if others hadn't stepped in.
Dave: He's not a real terrorist. He's Delta Force playing a terrorist.
Bryan: I got the hostage. Easy. I got this.
Delta Force Guy: There's something wrong with you, in the head.
Christina: Let's just say he's still a work in progress.

Christina rightfully sidelined him for that stunt.

NBC this Monday served up Taken, it’s prequel, set in 2017, to the film franchise that started up in 2008. Will you stick around to follow the evolution of Bryan Mills’ certain grouping of abilities?

Whereas Mills when we met him in the first Taken film was a retired CIA operative, here (with Vikings‘ Clive Standen succeeding/preceding? Liam Neeson) he only has his Green Beret past behind him, having served three tours in Afghanistan. He is making a trip home, via train, with his younger sister Cali, when he senses something isn’t quite kosher.
