With Lucasfilm refusing to spill any details on the upcoming Star Wars: Episode IX and the cast kept silent by the studio’s increasingly excessive spoiler security measures, fans have been relying on rumors and alleged leaks for a lot of their info, leaving the forums pretty vulnerable to false claims and fakery.
That being said, when this alleged logo popped up on Reddit, user Garrett Thomas at least offered a pretty solid deadline for determining its authenticity, asserting last night that “something is coming in the next 2 days, either on ESPN or ABC.” So while this supposed leak might well have been created by a fan with Photoshop, we won’t have long to wait before we get some confirmation either way.
As you can see, the logo presents the title of “Star Wars: Son of Darkness,” which Thomas claimed a couple of weeks ago to be the name.

A couple of weeks ago, Reddit user Garrett Thomas relayed the alleged info that the official title for Star Wars: Episode IX will be “Star Wars: Son of Darkness,” adding that “this should be public knowledge by Christmas.” Fast-forward to Christmas Eve, and we’ve yet to get any confirmation that this is the case, and yet the same fan came back just last night with some visual evidence for their assertion.
In a new post, Thomas shares what they claim to be a leaked logo for J.J. Abrams’ next film, and while this certainly looks like something a fan with with Photoshop skills could’ve made at home, Thomas claims that “something is coming in the next 2 days, either on ESPN or ABC.” Naturally, a lot of folks are skeptical of this leak’s legitimacy, and so they should be with all the fake intel that makes the rounds on Reddit,...

If you look back at the history of Sequel Trilogy reveals, you’ll see there’s a chance that we’re no more than a month or two away from learning the official title of Star Wars: Episode IX, and in light of the recent rumor that the film’s first trailer will be arriving before Christmas, that possibility has become just a little more distinct.
In the meantime, Star Wars fans have to find something to speculate on, and so this new Reddit report alleging inside knowledge of the film’s name has spawned some discussion. The post from user Garrett Thomas reads as follows:
“By a somewhat credible source. By that I mean he’s batting about .700. He gives me good things mostly, and he gives me bad. But this time I trust him. I have no reason to lie, my real name and social media are attached to this,...
