Season 16 of “The Voice” recently concluded with Maelyn Jarmon from Team John Legend winning the latest title in the long-running NBC competition series. (Watch our video interview with Maelyn.) Although the songbird from Team John was Gold Derby’s odds-on favorite to win, it was Blake Shelton who coached three of the four finalists including country singers Gyth Rigdon, Dexter Roberts and Andrew Sevener. That brings us to an impressive statistic for Shelton. Not only has he won more titles than any other coach, with six total, but he’s also had more runners-up and finalists as well.

It’s official: There’s a curse on “The Voice” Instant Save.
Ever since this twist was created back in Season 6, no artist that’s been saved by Twitter or brought back via a wild card has ever gone on to win the show. Even more troubling, all of the Instant Save recipients have placed last in their respective finales aside from Britton Buchanan, who defied the odds to place second to Brynn Cartelli in Season 14. This year Andrew Sevener of Team Blake Shelton tried his hardest to break the curse but he, too, ended up placing last in Tuesday’s season finale.

The 14th champion of “The Voice” is set to be crowned on Tuesday, May 22 but according to our latest Gold Derby odds, it may not be the artist most fans were expecting. Team Alicia Keys‘ Britton Buchanan has been the favorite to take home the grand prize throughout most of the season, but things were shaken up during the Tuesday, May 15 live results show. The frontrunner hit a major roadblock when he failed to earn enough votes to yield a Top 3 finish, forcing him to battle it out for the final Instant Save of the season. Since the Instant Save made its debut in Season 6, no artist advancing to the finale by this method has ever won “The Voice.” In fact, they all finished in last place in their finales.

[Spoiler alert: If you haven't watched last night's season-nine finale, what are you doing? Stop.] Turns out there were two winners from Tuesday night's star-studded finale of The Voice. Let's start with the technical one: After having whittled the finalists down to four, the results had Team Gwen's Jeffery Austin taking fourth, and Blake's Barrett Baber and Emily Ann Roberts third and second, respectively. Jordan Smith (Team Adam), long considered the favorite, grabbed his trophy (for maybe two seconds) and sang "Climb Every Mountain" in celebration:Prior to the coronation, the ninth season's conclusion also featured a star-studded lineup of performances from the likes of Justin Bieber, the Weeknd, and Coldplay. The other (unofficial) winner, though, was Missy Elliott, who made her "Wtf" TV debut with Pharrell. Yep, puppets included, so you know it was fire round two: For more highlights from NBC's latest Voice finale, head here.

On Tuesday, the singer was crowned The Voice's season 9 champion. Emily Ann Roberts placed second, while Barrett Baber and Jeffery Austin rounded out the final four.
After host Carson Daly called his name, Smith, 21, was joined on stage by his coach Adam Levine and family members.
But Smith didn't have long for celebratory hugs. He soon held up the mic and burst into an emotional performance of "Climb Every Mountain." It was a short reminder why his fans – including coaches Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and Pharrell – fell in love with him after the season debut in September.

This season of The Voice is drawing to an end but Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton's romance is hotter than ever.
While taping the first part of season 9's live finale in Universal City, California, on Monday, the duo kept up their sweet report while the cameras weren't looking.
The singer, 46, walked over to Shelton's chair during a break and the two giggled and smiled while conversing. Later, after Shelton performed while Stefani looked on approvingly, the country crooner stopped to whisper in her ear. The pair hasn't been shy about their love on set, and the latest episode wasn't any exception.

Jordan Smith. Barrett Baber. Emily Ann Roberts. Jeffery Austin. These are your final four season 9 artists on The Voice. As for the coaches, Adam Levine is still in the game (and will probably win), as are Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Pharrell is down for the count this season, so he gets to sit back and enjoy the show. That's fine by me because, as wonderful as the man is, he can't sing anywhere near as fabulously as his colleagues can.
During this first part of the two-night, four-hour finale, we will see some of the best entertainment of the entire season. We will see these four starlings perform a song of their choice (and we all know choice is the key to success on The Voice) as well as a duet with their coach. And during the season 9 finale, each will perform with a mega star in the music industry.

Shortly after that, host Carson Daly, revealed that Jordan Smith was safe this week to kick off the results. Then Carson quickly revealed that Team Blake's Emily Ann Roberts was safe tonight. Next, Dolly Parton sang "Coat of Many Colors." After that, Carson revealed that Barrett Baber was also safe tonight. This left: Jeffery Austin, Madi Davis and Zach Seabaugh as the bottom 3, so they had to sing for the live Twitter save to get into the final 4. Zach Seabaugh sang "Live Like You Were Dying." Madi Davis sang "Don't Dream It's Over." And Jeffery Austin sang "Make it Rain." Then after the last break of the night, Carson revealed that Jeffery easily won over Madi and Zach.

Now that the ugliest, bloodiest elimination in the history of The Voice is over, what the heck do we do? Take a collective, cleansing breath? Scream bloody murder at the top of our lungs? Or perhaps freeze-frame our DVRs and see who can correctly count the number of pennies stitched together to make Gwen Stefani’s coat of money colors.

Weird silhouetted people popping out of one singer’s backdrop like unwelcome whack-a-moles. Judges spending more time discussing another contestant’s pre-performance “confidence issues” than her actual vocal. A third artist being forced to perform in the midst of a baffling outdoor café set — complete with hedges and a monstrous video of a fountain — then being damned with faint praise for delivering “the most different thing I’ve heard on the show.”

It was a record-breaking week on The Voice—seven of the top ten songs on the iTunes singles chart were from the finalists' Monday night performances. Only Adele and Justin Bieber could break through the Voice domination, with Jordan Smith, Barrett Baber, Madi Davis, Emily Ann Roberts, Jeffery Austin, Amy Vachal and Shelby Brown all claiming spots in the top ten. But despite their great showing, someone still had to go home. Beware, results are below! For the third week in a row, Korin Bukowski wound up in the bottom two and had to fight for her life with the Twitter Save. This week, however, was kind of a worst nightmare situation. The 19-year-old singer stumbled during her rendition of "Try,"...

After the Top 10 artists performed on "The Voice" Monday night, did a new frontrunner finally emerge? Longtime leader Jordan Smith may have a real fight on his hands with Barrett Baber! With the competition heating up, it certainly appears to be closer than we once thought. If Baber is crowned in a few weeks, it will be a fifth victory for coach Blake Shelton. Meanwhile, coach Adam Levine is hoping Smith makes it through to give him a third trophy as top mentor. Coach Pharrell Williams may be the reigning winner, but he only has one contender left this season. And Gwen Stefani has still never won the overall prize. One of their artists will go home on Tuesday night. Based on their Monday performances, Stefani could be in for a rough elimination night. Here are my rankings of the remaining contestants. -Break- Related: Are Madi Davis, Jeffery Austin a threat to defeat Jordan Smith?...

The slow trek toward the finals continues as the remaining 10 artists perform in this installment of The Voice. The group has been diminished by only one from the previous week. Shelby Brown, Evan McKeel, Barrett Baber, Korin Bukowski, Amy Vachal, Zach Seabaugh, Madi Davis, Braiden Sunshine, Jordan Smith, Emily Ann Roberts and Jeffery Austin performed like superstars in the Top 11, and all but one return to grace our screens and bid for iTunes sales while we live blog the evening's performances. Blake and Adam's teams have three artists each, Gwen has two and Pharrell has one.
During the results show, the bottom two, Evan and Korin, performed for the Twitter Save. Unfortunately, Evan was then sent home. After being in the bottom two for two weeks in a row, we'll see if Korin fares better in this round (which she totally does).

Will Korin Bukowski be able to escape elimination from "The Voice" yet again? She has been in the bottom the past two weeks and needed "instant saves" from the home audience both times. Our writer John Benutty already ranked the top 10 singers based on their performances from this past week on the NBC reality program (see red link below). He noted that Madi Davis and Jeffery Austin were rising to the top to challenge frontrunner Jordan Smith. At the bottom of his list were Barrett Baber and Braiden Sunshine, but is one of them the likeliest to go him this week? At this point, the teams of Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani are still complete with three artists each. Coach Pharrell Williams has lost two in a row and is down to just one contender. Here is my evaluation of the remaining finalists ordered from most in danger...

I was going to start my recap of The Voice‘s Top 11 performance night by lamenting all of the unfortunate business that played out over its first 90 minutes: The silhouetted ballet dancer shaking out her hair (inside the moon!) and upstaging hapless Evan McKeel. The assassination of Helen Reddy’s “Delta Dawn” in front of 12 million viewers. The ghost of a 1999 Mandy Moore soundtrack cut floating across the stage, haunting Korin Bukowski’s musical future.

Our writer Denton Davidson already ranked the Top 11 singers based on their performances from this past week on "The Voice." He singled out Jordan Smith as a clear frontrunner with Jeffery Austin and Barrett Baber following closely behind him. At the bottom of his list were Korin Bukowski and Madi Smith, but is one of them the likeliest to go home this week? At this point, the teams of Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, and Gwen Stefani are intact with three artists each. Only coach Pharrell Williams has lost a finalist and is down to just two contenders.
