"American Sniper," a dramatized look at the life of the late Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle (whose real-life actions have been called into question), was a huge hit. In fact, it's the biggest hit of Clint Eastwood's directing career, hauling in $547 million worldwide, a feat that made it the 13th highest-grossing film of 2014, and the highest-grossing wide-release film that opened in the month of January. it also received six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
And now, it's coming to 4K for the first time.
Bradley Cooper stars as Kyle, and the film follows him throughout his life and military career as he becomes a deadly sniper and then struggles to maintain any semblance of a normal life at home. For some, this is a controversial film due to the actions surrounding the real Kyle, who was killed shortly before the movie opened. Some would even say the film is...

If you're not off work today, you might be perusing online sales in your half-staffed office. Or you might be planning on attending a BBQ later. Whatever you're doing, don't wish people a "Happy Memorial Day." Here's why. Memorial Day descends from the Southern tradition of "Decoration Day," where families would travel to the cemeteries where their ancestors were interred to place flowers on their graves. Often, large groups of extended families would make the trip, religious ceremonies would take place and food would be served. Decoration Day used to reflect the cycles of farm life, taking place in late...

I have a lot of time for the school of thought that suggests that you get out of a film only what you bring to it in the first place. I think this is particularly relevant for films that portray real life events and perhaps even more so for films that pertain to real life events that are relatively recent. American Sniper is Clint Eastwood’s depiction of the life of Chris Kyle, who became the deadliest sniper in Us history during the Iraq war. After seeing the film, I did a little reading around the subject and discovered Kyle to be a rather more controversial subject than you might expect based solely on the film.

Kid Rock is taking the American Sniper controversy personally.
The outspoken rapper, 44, had some super-harsh words for Bowling for Columbine director Michael Moore and The Interview star Seth Rogen, who've both publicly criticized Clint Eastwood's latest film about real-life Navy Seal sniper Chris Kyle's life on and off the battlefield.
"F*ck you Michael Moore, you're a piece of s*it and your uncle would be ashamed of you," he wrote on his website, referring to Moore's claim that his uncle was killed by a sniper in World War II, and that snipers were "cowards."
My uncle killed by sniper in WW2. We were taught snipers were cowards. Will shoot u in the back. Snipers aren't heroes. And invaders r worse

Et sat down with retired Navy Seal Kevin Lacz, who served with Chris Kyle, and played himself in American Sniper. He addressed the controversy over the film as well as how he came to be in it.
News: Country Star Craig Morgan is "Sick and Tired" of Seth Rogen's American Sniper Tweets
"We as Navy SEALs, special operation soldiers, are professionals and, we aim to do our job like that all the time," Lacz told Et's Brooke Anderson. "I do realize that war is polarizing. I believe what this film does is it goes ahead and it offers a perspective into what a veteran goes through, what that family goes through, and we as a country heal."
There's no question that Lacz served his country with honor, and he told Et that the hardest part about being a Seal was leaving the team.
"You form these relationships that you can't just pay money to get into...

On Monday evening, Wamg welcomed members of the Us military to the advance screening of American Sniper in St. Louis.
We had the privilege of hosting the 3D Battalion, 23D Marines and Navy Corpsmen, and a few Marines stationed at Scott Air Force Base at the screening of director Clint Eastwood’s upcoming movie. With some travelling from as far away as Scott Air Force Base, the officers and servicemen called the film “incredible.”
Starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle and Sienna Miller as his wife, Taya, the film is based on Chris Kyle’s autobiography, “American Sniper” which recounts the personal story of the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history.
Eastwood says he hopes the film, “will remind people of the sacrifices of soldiers and their families and make people even more appreciative of those who have given so much in service of their country.”

Just call him the Sexiest Sniper Alive. Bradley Cooper worked hard to get in shape to play real-life Navy Seal Chris Kyle in the Clint Eastwood-directed American Sniper. People caught up with writer-producer Jason Hall for the inside scoop on how Cooper trained to become the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history. In order to bulk up 40-plus lbs., Cooper "had a strict, crazy diet," Hall says. "He was eating about every 55 minutes or something like that, and I want to say it was about 8,000 calories a day." "Bradley used his own trainer, who was busting on him.
