Anti-mafia journalist and scriptwriter Roberto Saviano dissects the complexities of how Italian film-makers portray the Cosa Nostra on screen
You won’t recognise a member of the mafia. Whether you’re in Naples, Paris, London or Mexico City, you wouldn’t know the member of a crime syndicate from the next guy. Actually, it’s always been like that: the mafia have always looked exactly the same as their law-abiding neighbours. Omertà, or the code of silence, originates precisely from this – quite apart from the fear of retaliation, omertà begins from a natural inclination not to betray one of your own. By extension, this code of silence can afflict people, whether ordinary people or politicians, who don’t want to be told stories that clash with the picture-postcard image they would like to project of their own country.

Is anyone having more fun than Barack and Michelle Obama post-presidency? On Saturday, Michelle was spotted doing some sightseeing in Montalcino, Italy, with a few friends (and Secret Service personnel). The former first lady looked casual and chic in white jeans and a striped one-shoulder Teija top and was all smiles while walking the streets and waving to onlookers. As Michelle got in some girl time, Barack hit the links and was seen playing a round of golf at the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco. The following day, Barack and Michelle met up for another round of sightseeing fun, this time at the five-star Borgo Finocchieto estate in Tuscany; the adorable couple cuddled up while their friend snapped pictures of them - between the scenery and those smiles, we're sure the photos came out beautifully. Barack Obama is currently vacationing in Italy, and on Saturday, the former president stopped by the Rosewood Castiglion del Bosco to play a round of golf. Barack certainly looked the part in his white collared shirt, matching pants, and cap and appeared to be in a good mood as he hit a few balls and drove a golf cart with a friend (no word on whether or not Joe Biden joined them). While his wife, Michelle, did not tag along, the couple is expected to make stops in both Siena and Florence, where Barack will reportedly meet with former Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. The last time we saw him hit the golf course was in Hawaii back in March. RelatedHere's What Barack Obama Has Been Up to Since He Walked Out of the White House - and Our Lives...

Former President Barack Obama gave a keynote speech on one of his signature presidential issues, climate change, at the Seeds and Chips Global Food Innovation Summit in Milan … but there was also time for anecdotes about life after the White House.
He and wife Michelle Obama settled into their $4.3 million home in Washington, D.C., after enjoying a post-presidency vacation in Palm Springs and the British Virgin Islands.
“I’m actually enjoying being in my own house. I have been fighting Michelle to get more closet space,” Obama said. “I have been trying to figure out how the coffee maker works.
