Exclusive: Georgia has been one of the top Hollywood production spots in America for years, and now the Black List are putting some of the Peach State’s finest front and center.
“I grew up in Columbus, Georgia,” Black List founder Franklin Leonard said Thursday of the new effort to amplify unproduced scripts. “My father grew up in Columbus, Georgia. His parents grew up in Columbus, Georgia.”
“This one’s personal for me, so it’s appropriate that it’s our first such partnership,” Leonard added. In conjunction with Dei consultancy firm Collective Moxie and the sprawling 700-acre Trilith Studios, the Black List has chosen 10 screenwriters and their scripts (see the full Georgia List below).
“After more than two decades in the industry, it’s clear to me that the access issues that exist for folks in Georgia and places like it are formidable, and that there’s a wide...

Warner Bros. Animation has started production on a new pre-school series called “Batwheels,” and it features baby versions of super-vehicles like the Batmobile and the Batgirl Cycle fighting crime alongside Batman, Robin, Batgirl and other DC Universe characters.

“Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by Bam (The Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Red (The Redbird), Jett (The Batwing) and Buff (The Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid,” reads the description from Warner Bros. We Bare Bears: The Movie was an absolute delight and even thought it released at the end of June I’m still thinking about it. The way it managed to balance the comedy and melancholy of the series with its absolutely riveting message is one that’ll speak to generations to come. We got a chance to speak with Daniel Chong about the film when it came out but there’s even more We Bare Bears: The Movie behind-the-scenes content that’s coming soon!
The movie will hit DVD on September 8, 2020 and will be stacked (in true We Bare Bears fashion) with a commentary track, the movie pitch, deleted scenes, and more! Cartoon Network was kind enough to give us a first look at a section of one of those bonus features, the movie pitch! In the clip you’ll find below, director/executive producer Daniel Chong gives us an...

This article contains spoilers for We Bare Bears: The Movie.
Back in 2016 just after the election of Donald Trump, We Bare Bears creator Daniel Chong posted a message about how the series is an allegory for what it feels like to be a minority in America. Many had questioned why the Bears in the series were treated so poorly and Chong answered, “as an Asian American, sometimes individuals are treated unfairly for no other reason than looking different.”
Chong admits that the allegory was “a little too heavy for an 11 minute (show.)” However, with the recent release of We Bare Bears: The Movie, Chong and the rest of the crew were finally given the time to tread deeper into what the show was really all about.
The film follows the Bears biggest stunt yet to try and fit in. They make an awful online video that knocks out power in...

This We Bare Bears: The Movie interview contains spoilers.
We Bare Bears: The Movie is the perfect send off to the loveable Grizz, Panda, and Ice Bear that have been warming hearts on Cartoon Network since 2015. Their last adventure sees them going up against their own right to simply exist in the world as the government tries to capture them. The story is not only relevant to our times (where racism continues to show its ugly face) but also contains the melancholy that made We Bare Bears such a warm show alongside its trademark humor. It’s truly a special film that does the herculean task of wrapping up a long running series, commenting on the world, and just being the fun we need while going through dark times.
We spoke with show creator Daniel Chong for an in-depth discussion about the making of the film from its original conception...

Back in 2018 a fan of the K-pop group Monsta X tweeted at We Bare Bears creator Daniel Chong that if he ever featured a K-pop group on the show he hoped it would be Monsta X. Considering that the show has done several references to K-pop in the past, Chong simply replied with, “i’ll see what I can do.”
Little that did that random fan know he had just set something powerful in motion.
A year later Monsta X appeared as themselves on the final episode of We Bare Bears season 4 and the fandom around the band exploded. Their favorite boys were animated! Chong’s tweets about the episode spread through the internet like wildfire. The plot of the episode followed Grizz and Ice Bear trying to get their brother Panda to meet the band, which he loves, but hijinks get in the way

When I sat down to watch the We Bare Bears movie I was expecting it to be a light and fun beacon of hope in these dark times. The show has always been that, with the wacky antics of the bears a constant source of comfort. I got that sure, but what I was surprised and delighted by was how much the central message of the series was brought to the forefront to tremendous and incredibly relevant effect.
To put it simply, I didn’t expect the We Bare Bears movie to take on prejudice and intolerance and do it in such a big way. The show has always been diverse and its central message has been about the need to fit in and belong but this took it to another level. It isn’t just some fun jokes about the bears being inept at trying to fit in; its...

Nominations for the 41st Annual Annie Awards were announced and "Frozen" and "Monsters University" led the pack with 10 nominations each. "Despicable Me 2" and "The Croods" followed closely with 9 noms each.
I am rooting for "Frozen" to win! It's a return to form to what Disney does best -- affecting fairy tale with memorable musical numbers. "Monsters University," on the other hand, was bland. The film bored me on second viewing.
Steven Spielberg will receive the Winsor McCay Award for career achievement at the awards ceremony happening on Saturday, Feb. 1, at Royce Hall on the UCLA campus. Patrick Warburton will serve as host.
