The 2023 Academy of Country Music Awards have concluded, and the big winner from Thursday night’s ceremony is Chris Stapleton, who took home Entertainer of the Year.
It’s the first time Stapleton has won that prize, which brings the total of ACM awards he’s won over his celebrated career to 15. He’s now also qualified for the ACM Triple Crown Award, given to people who win New Female/Male Artist of the Year, Female/Male Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.
But Stapleton didn’t take home the most prizes. That distinction was shared by Lainey Wilson and Hardy, who essentially teamed up to win 4 each. By herself, Wilson won Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year for “Bell Bottom Country.” She also shared Visual Media of the Year and Music Event of the Year with Hardy, both of which were awarded...

This season of Love Is Blind had a remarkable share of awkward moments. Even Netflix’s attempt at a live reunion was cringey in its tardiness. But to country fans, perhaps nothing was more Wtf than the obsession of Season 4’s owl-loving weirdo Zack with Lee Ann Womack’s 2000 hit “I Hope You Dance.”
To be clear, it’s not his obsession with the song that made us wince — written by Mark D. Sanders and Tia Sillers and selling a message about holding on to your sense of wonder, it’s a country classic.

Ahead of the July 24th release of her upcoming album, The Balladeer, Lori McKenna remotely joins host – and fellow musician – Chris Shiflett for the latest episode of his Walkin’ the Floor podcast. In a 45-minute Zoom session prefaced by Shiflett’s admission that he has “been obsessed with her music ever since [her 2016 LP] The Bird and the Rifle came out,” McKenna talks about her songwriting process, her reasons for staying in the same New England town where she was born, and how lacking a Southern accent was a disadvantage when she started recording.

Collectively known as the Love Junkies, songwriters Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose have been responsible for such monster hits as Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” as well as — in various iterations — songs for A Star Is Born, the TV series Nashville, and dozens of other singles and album cuts by Taylor Swift, Reba McEntire, Tim McGraw and more. The trio recently got together to participate in the popular podcast Broken Record, for an episode aptly titled “How to Write a Hit Song.”
