On Wednesday’s 11th episode of “Survivor 44,” Danny Massa cut the mission to find out who cast a vote against him short, believing it to have been a member of Tika. That belief led him down a path to targeting Yamil “Yam Yam” Arocho for the vote, but Yam Yam brought together the former Ratu members to oust Danny instead. Read on for his “Survivor 44” exit interview from the end of the episode.
For Danny, the vote should have been simple. With two Soka, two Ratu and three Tika in the game, the four non-Tika were supposed to align together to take out Yam Yam or Carson Garrett. Everyone was on board to take out Yam Yam, until he won his first immunity challenge and had safety. When the vote turned to Carson, the plan was still on, but Jaime Lynn Ruiz and Lauren Harpe were swayed by Tika to take out Danny instead.

Following this week’s elimination of Frannie Marin from “Survivor 44,” only seven castaways remain in the game to be named Sole Survivor. That means 11 other players have already fallen by the wayside, either voted out of the game or evacuated for medical reasons. Setting aside Bruce Perreault, who Jeff Probst has already invited to play again, we want to know which of the other 10 eliminated players You think is deserving of a second chance in an All-Stars season? Vote in our “Survivor 44” poll below.
Very few players voted out in the first few days of the game have ever been invited back, but Maddy Pomilla, Helen Li and Claire Rafson are as good of picks as any would be. Each jumped into the game head first with bold strategic moves that ultimately put a target on their backs. On Wednesday’s ninth episode of “Survivor 44,” Kane Fritzler made the risky decision of sitting out of the immunity challenge in order to help secure a bag of rice for the tribe. Though his fellow castaways assured him that those who sat out wouldn’t be voted for, they went back on their word and sent Kane to the jury. Read on for his “Survivor 44” exit interview from the end of the episode.

With the three original tribes split evenly at three players apiece, the pre-Tribal Council scramble came down to which two tribes would work together in order to take out a member of the third. Though Frannie Marin clocked the Tika three as successfully playing from the middle of the game, Danny Massa and Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt insisted that Ratu was still a bigger threat to Soka than Tika.

A “scout’s honor” in the game of Survivor means absolutely nothing, especially if the person making it (Danny) isn’t even a scout to begin with! And while Kane was smart enough to realize that the promise made to him was a smoke screen, his savvy street smarts just weren’t enough to save his life in the game.
On Wednesday’s episode, Jeff gives the Va Va tribe a chance to negotiate for some much needed rice. The deal: If four people agree to sit out of the immunity challenge, they’ll win a big ol’ vat of carbs for the entire group.

As of this writing, only nine players still remain on CBS’s reality TV show. Amazingly, they are evenly divided along original tribal lines. Yamil “Yam Yam” Arocho, Carson Garrett and Carolyn Wiger hail from Tika, Kane Fritzler, Lauren Harpe and Jaime Lynn Ruiz represent Ratu, and Heidi Lagares-Greenblatt, Frannie Marin and Danny Massa come from Soka.

Before the three tribes of “Survivor 44” merged to one in their move to Ratu beach, Brandon Cottom hid a fake idol in order to throw the new inhabitants off their game. Above, watch the “Survivor 44” deleted scene from episode 8, “Don’t Get Cocky Kid,” where Brandon’s ally Kane Fritzler finds the idol instead.
In the clip, Kane and fellow former Ratu member Lauren Harpe wake up early to collect firewood, which in the game of “Survivor” almost always doubles as an idol hunt. The two express their frustration at how unexpectedly hard it is to locate hidden advantages when they anticipated that it’d be much easier. They return to camp empty-handed, but when Kane goes out for another search later, he comes across the rolled up parchment tucked between two rocks.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for Survivor Season 44 Episode 8, “Don’t Get Cocky, Kid.”] Every season, players know not to get “Survivor confident.” And every season, someone gets Survivor confident anyway. Typically, when a player says the Survivor equivalent of uttering Macbeth in a theater, that’s the show’s way of hinting they’re going home that night. That was nearly the case in Survivor 44’s eighth episode when Kane, part of the dominating Ratu alliance, said the forbidden words. Did he jinx his allies in doing so? Frannie returned to the beach in tears following Matt’s elimination from last week. Brandon, Kane, and Lauren further cemented their alliance, knowing Jaime (reassigned from Ratu to Soka) would side with them. The other half of Va Va were rushing to form alliances rather than be asked to join them. Heidi did damage ...

A wise and very underestimated woman once said, “Everything yesterday means nothing today.” If that doesn’t perfectly encapsulate the game of Survivor, I don’t know what does.
That woman’s name is Carolyn and luckily for her and the other former members of Tika (Carson included), the brewing war between former Ratus and Sokas is putting them in a prett-y, prett-y, prett-y good spot, as everyone else desperately wants to secure their swing votes. As the game heads in to what should be the first straight-forward merge vote of “Survivor 44,” where we hope all Top 10 players left have a say in who goes home next, the game seems to have split unevenly down original tribal lines. The Survivor 44 cast encountered numerous twists in episode 7, “Let’s Not Be Cute About It.” Undoubtedly, the producers did too much during the hour (it’s time to let the players play the game). But despite the abundance of advantages and twists in episode 7, one castaway managed to secure their safety and now finds themselves in a good position.

Only 11 castaways remain in Survivor 44, meaning they have officially “earned” the merge. They will now compete for individual immunity and reside on one beach (and everyone gets the cool black merge buff). But, of course, it wouldn’t be the “new era” if the producers didn’t introduce at least one twist in every episode. So whether fans like it or not, host Jeff Probst had shocking news for the players in Survivor 44 Episode 7, “Let’s Not Be Cute About It.”

Heading into the sixth episode of “Survivor 44,” the Tika tribe had just been told by host Jeff Probst that they wouldn’t have to attend tribal council because Matthew Grinstead-Mayle had left the show due to his bum shoulder. It’s the episode of Survivor 44 we’ve all been dreading — the “mergatory.” That’s right; Survivor producers are sticking with the “new era” “earn the merge” concept in season 44, meaning that Tika, Soka, and Ratu are now living on one beach, but they aren’t technically merged. We’ll get further into this concept in our recap, but let’s just hope that the Survivor 44 cast somehow makes this awful twist somewhat bearable in episode 6.

It’s “merge” time for the “Survivor” contestants as the “Next Time On” promo confirmed that all the tribes will coalesce on the same beach. Last week’s fifth episode saw the leave of Matthew Grinstead-Mayle from Ratu after sustaining an injury to his shoulder in the premiere when he fell off of a large rock. This is the second player this season to exit the game due to an injury, and though he technically was not involuntarily medically evacuated like Bruce Perrault was in the premiere, the pain was too excruciating for him to continue forward. Due to Matthew’s departure, the Tika tribe did not have to attend Tribal Council after losing the immunity challenge, but how will the rest of the cast look together when they unite on one beach? Read on as we’re breaking down the game.
