Richard Lewis’ Southpaw Entertainment has acquired the rights to Instagram personality and podcast creator Jedidiah Jenkins’s New York Times best-selling memoir To Shake The Sleeping Self: A Journey from Oregon to Patagonia. The book will get a feature film adaptation with the script written by Lewis and Steph Lady. Southpaw’s Gabrielle Jerou-Tabak will co-produce and oversee development and production.
“We are so grateful that Jedidiah has shared his extraordinary and evocative adventure with us. His journey of self-discovery truly leaps off the page and offers such a great opportunity to bring to life on film,” Lewis said.
To Shake the Sleeping Self follows the real life journey of Jenkins, who on the eve of turning 30, terrified of being funneled into a life he didn’t choose, quit his dream job and spent 16 months cycling 14,000 miles from Oregon to Patagonia in search of answers to the question: What makes a life worth living?...

Here is a wrap up of all the news you need to know from July 25, 2019.
We have recasts, promotions, and more!
Fox midseason drama Filthy Rich has added Steven Pasquale to its talented cast, according to Deadline.
Pasquale is taking over the role David Denman played in the pilot.
No reason has been given for the recast, but it's normal for shows to recast post-pilot as they prepare to enter production as a full-fledged series.

Pasquale is probably best known for his role on Rescue Me, but he more recently appeared on Divorce, The Code, and Doubt.
"A southern Gothic family drama in which wealth, power and religion collide – with outrageously soapy results," reads the official logline for Filthy Rich.
"When the patriarch of a mega-rich Southern family, famed for creating a wildly successful Christian television network, dies in a plane crash, his wife...

Rob Guillory’s Image Comics horror series, Farmhand, is getting a show at AMC.
Farmhand is one of the more conceptually macabre printed offerings from Image Comics, the company that famously published The Walking Dead. Pertinently, it appears that the comic series, the brainchild of writer/artist Rob Guillory, is set to become the next Image-adapted series to manifest as a television show on cable network AMC.
Indeed, AMC has announced its Farmhand adaptation as one of two new serial TV projects, with the other being a split personality drama called Of Two Minds, from writer Morgan Dover-Pearl. Both shows will be written and developed by Latoya Morgan, who recently served as a writer and co-executive producer on the network’s recently-concluded post-apocalyptic martial arts series, Into the Badlands. Guillory has taken his excitement over the project to Twitter.
Pretty excited I don%u2019t have to keep this a secret anymore.

TV writer Latoya Morgan’s first two projects for AMC’s scripted inclusion initiative –“Farmhand” and “Of Two Minds” — are in development, the network announced Thursday.
The initiative launched last year and is overseen by Morgan, who also serves as a co-executive producer on “Into the Badlands” and has written for “The Walking Dead,” “Shameless” and “Parenthood.” She currently has a multi-year overall deal with the network. As part of the initiative, Morgan supervises and mentors emerging writers in order to infuse diverse voices into AMC’s development slate.
No dates have been set yet for either show. Additional project announcements under the initiative are to come.
“Farmhand,” from Rob Guillory, is described as following “Jedidiah Jenkins, a simple farmer, but one whose cash crop isn’t corn or soy. He grows fast-healing, plug-and-play human organs. For years, Jed’s organic transplants have brought healing to many, but deep in...

During TCA press tour, AMC unveiled that they are developing projects Farmhand and Of Two Minds as part of the AMC Scripted Inclusion Initiative. Into the Badlands writer and co-executive producer, Latoya Morgan, who oversees the initiative, will also oversee the development of the series that are part of the program which launched last year.
Farmhand is based on Rob Guillory’s graphic novel about a Southern farmer Jedidiah Jenkins. His cash crop isn’t corn or soy. He grows fast-healing, plug-and-play human organs. For years, Jed’s organic transplants have brought healing to many, but deep in the soil of the Jenkins Family Farm something sinister has taken root.
Of Two Minds from Morgan Dover-Pearl is a dark comedy about a woman trying to “have it all” who suffers a traumatic brain injury that results in a severed corpus callosum, causing her left and right brains to cease all communication.

At noon Pacific time last Monday, Jedidiah Jenkins, a member of the nonprofit organization Invisible Children's inner circle, saw the group's 278th YouTube video uploaded and wasn't sure what to expect. Jenkins had written the script to the film, the 30-minute documentary "Kony 2012," about the Ugandan warlord Joseph Kony, and it had been a grind.
"It was really the hardest movie we've ever made" in the nearly decade-long history of the group, he told MTV News in a phone interview from Los Angeles.
The film is now the most viral video ever, with more than 70 million views on YouTube alone in the video's first six days thanks in no small part to an army of young supporters...
