Exclusive: Amazon’s multiple Emmy-winning digital drama series The Bay has resumed production on its sixth season, brought to a halt earlier this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The series, along with virtually the entire TV and film industry, shut down production in mid-March due to the virus outbreak. Producer Lany Entertainment tells Deadline the series has resumed shooting at a secure location outside Los Angeles County. “Strictly adhering to the newly established industry guidelines, Lany Entertainment and The Bay producers have implemented rigorous safety standards and protocols including a skeleton crew and most of the cast being quarantined on a private 800-acre property, in addition to regular Covid-19 testing, and mandatory daily temperature checks from an onset medical professional, Lany Entertainment said in a statement.
Per Amazon’s official logline, The Bay follows the affluent yet cursed Bay City residents whose lives are riddled with forbidden love, malicious lies and never-ending scandals.

Press materials for new indie comedy “Lazy Susan” stress “The character of Susan is a cisgender woman,” apparently for fear that viewers might otherwise assume star Sean Hayes is playing a transgender person. The fact that he’s not underlines this movie’s very fragile raison d’être: It’s supposed to be funny simply that a man in a dress and wig is portraying a “real” woman. Can that be funny? Well, sure. But is that alone, minus much else very special in the realms of performance or story or concept, funny enough to float a 90-minute movie all by itself?
Apparently not. “Lazy Susan” aims hazily between the sad-sack valentine likes of “Muriel’s Wedding” and something more satirically misanthropic, missing a target it never quite commits to in the first place. Starring “Will & Grace’s” Hayes as the title character, a suburban Wisconsin wallflower who makes herself...

Exclusive: Sean Hayes is wrapping up production on Lazy Susan, an indie comedy the Will & Grace stalwart stars in alongside Carrie Aizley, Margo Martindale, Jim Rash with Matthew Broderick and Allison Janney. Nick Peet directed a script that Hayes wrote with Darlene Hunt and Aizley.
In the comedy, Hayes portrays the title character, a frumpy, bumbling, unmotivated woman named Susan who, despite her best efforts, always manages to get herself in the most ridiculous, embarrassing situations imaginable.
The film’s produced by Dominion Pictures’ Carl Moellenberg, Hazy Mills Productions’ Todd Milliner and Stargazer Films’ Zach O’Brien and Shane O’Brien.
“We wanted to explore the indie comedy genre from a different perspective,” said Hayes. “This is, at times, a dark look inside a character’s lack of empathy and ability to extend herself when it doesn’t serve her own needs. We root for Susan to grow and become self-aware.

We have a couple of updates for NBC's "Grimm" that should help fill the void until the Olympics are over and the show returns, including word on a new guest star and the upcoming digital series "Love Is in the Air."
Per TV Guide, C. Thomas Howell (pictured; "Southland," "Criminal Minds") will play FBI agent Weston Steward in Episode 3.18. Because of his experience and capability, Prince Vikton (Alexis Denisof) views Weston as an invaluable resource when Stateside issues need to be handled swiftly and precisely.
Also, as we told you in late January when we heard from "Grimm" co-stars Silas Weir Mitchell and Bree Turner (full interview here), a new standalone web series is on its way that focuses on Juliette and Rosalee and their friendship; and we have more details on that as follows:

Just because NBC is airing some sports thing for the next couple of weeks doesn’t mean they don’t love Grimm like we do. To help tide us over until its return on February 28, NBC will be posting a four-part digital series (web series, online series, fill in your favorite term for it) this Friday, February 14, to be streamed on NBC.com, Hulu and YouTube.
“We worked closely with the writers on these series and want to give our audience a chance to stay in touch with their favorite shows,” said Rob Hayes, Executive Vice President, Digital Media, NBC Entertainment. “These digital series provide a great way to give our loyal audience even more original programming.”
