Stars: Peyton List, Tobin Bell, Lydia Hearst, Swen Temmel, Andrew Biernat, Nick Vallelonga, Ashley Atwood, Christa Collins, Christopher Corbin, Joseph Schwartz, Hamish Sturgeon | Written and Directed by Daniel Farrands
In recent years writer/director Daniel Farrands, who penned 1995’s Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (still a personal favourite in the franchise) has turned his hand to creating films about some of America’s most notorious serial killers – starting with 2018’s The Amityville Murders, following that up with writing and directing The Haunting of Sharon Tate in 2019 and directing The Murder of Nicole Brown Simpson the same year. I’m not sure what Farrands’ obsession with such infamous cases is but it has resulted in films of varying quality, with the most-recent Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman easily the best of the bunch – mainly because Farrands told the story of Bundy as a literal boogeyman, playing up the horror elements...

And the Emmy nominees for Best Supporting Object in the Trumped-Up Reality-Show Drama of The X Factor‘s Top 17 Announcement Episode are: Nicole Shapeshifter’s shimmering eyelashes; the pillow used to mop up Stacy Francis’ tears-and-mascara gravy; the matching “wedding bands” worn by all three (!) members of rejected boy band The Anser; Tora Woloshin’s floppy white hat; and Steve Jones’ soft but muscular embrace. And the statuette goes to…
…the pillow used to mop up…wait! Simon Cowell is rushing the stage. He’s calling an audible and changing the script. The winner is Christa Collins’ “Creepy/Awesome Baby on a Lilypad” Hat!

After a giant montage o' filler, "The X Factor" gets down to business whittling the Top 32 to the Top 16, four from each of the four categories: girls, boys, over 30s and groups.
My predictions (and also my hopes) before they are revealed (and I am spoiler free) are girls - Drew Ryniewicz, Caitlin Koch, Rachel Crow and Melanie Amaro; boys - Tim Cifers, Chris Rene, Brennin Hunt and Phillip Lomax; over 30s - Stacey Francis, Leroy Bell, Josh Krajcik and James Kenney; groups - Lakoda Rayne, Stereo Hoggz and ... well, honestly, I'd take Jazzlyn Little and Tora Woloshin and not add two more groups. And then I'd drop Lomax for Christa Collins. But if I had to pick a fourth group, 4Shore and the Brewer Boys.
Ok, so let's see how right (or wrong) I turn out to be.

Simone Battle and Tora Woloshin are up first. I think if one is through,...

As sure as L.A. Reid will bring the dapper. As certainly as that Pussycat Dolls woman will serve misty eye and trembling lower lip. As indubitably as Simon Cowell will overwork his good news/bad news fakeout face. And as undoubtedly as Paula Abdul’s “Groups” category will be the surprise droppings in the freshly bathed baby’s diaper, The X Factor will announce its 16 finalists during Tuesday night’s long and winding (and probably filler-packed) episode.
As the episode rolls on, I’ll update you on who’s in, and who’s out in all four categories — Girls Under...
