So You Think You Can Dance fans, I have a dilemma.
For much of Wednesday’s Top 10 performance show — which paired each finalist with an All-Star dancer from seasons past — I couldn’t quite decide whether the Top 10 were put at an advantage or disadvantage by dancing with Sytycd vets.
Take, for example, what I considered tonight’s most entertaining routine: a fun hip-hop number between Jessica Richens and her All-Star companion, Twitch. On her own, Jessica did an excellent job with the fast-paced routine (and started to break away from the idea that she can only excel at jazz...

This week’s So You Think You Can Dance — which focused on auditions from Los Angeles and Austin, TX — spanned from the adorable (boogying toddlers!) to the grotesque (the sudden emergence of “bone-breaking” as popular style).

Cyrus “Glitch” Spencer arrived at Vegas Week for Season 9 of So You Think You Can Dance, and suddenly felt very small. “Everybody else was so good,” he explains. And while he’d wanted to take some classes in between his initial audition and the boot-camp-style callbacks, Cyrus says that deep down, he knew “it was too late in the game to learn anything seriously before Vegas.”
Yet thanks to a lot of hard work — and plenty of on-stage charisma — Cyrus beat the odds, was put through by the judges into the Season 9 Top 20, and advanced all the way to the finale,...

Chehon Wespi-Tschopp was well aware that most of his ballet-world contemporaries would think him crazy for abandoning a lead role in the touring production of Twyla Tharp’s Come Fly Away for a chance to audition for So You Think You Can Dance, but he saw it a different way.

Last night the So You Think You Can Dance finale aired with the top four dancers performing for one last time. Interestingly enough, all of this years finalists, Tiffany Maher, Cyrus Spencer, Eliana Girard and Chehon Wespi-Tschopp have a background in ballet. I'm pretty sure this is a So You Think You Can Dance firs; next thing you know an Opera singer will be winning American Idol.
Another first was the change to the winners themselves, on this years Sytycd two winners were crowned: a male and female. Eliana Girard and Chehon Wesp-Tschopp were crowned the winners despite a season that included some scary injuries, meltdowns, shattered emotions, and at least one seriously hard to pronounce name. Even though they were the winners, all four of the finalists had ample screen-time to showcase their skills.

For the first time in So You Think You Can Dance history, America has crowned two winners. "I don't know why we've never done it before," judge Nigel Lythgoe told People after Tuesday's ninth-season finale of the Fox dance competition - where both a male and female were declared "America's favorite dancers." "It's really great that they win in their own sexes," said Lythgoe. And so, with the entire top 20 on hand, the season's final four - Cyrus Spencer, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, Eliana Girard and Tiffany Maher - waited to learn who would take home the titles. It all comes down to this! "So You Think You Can Dance" Season 9 aired its two-hour live finale on Tuesday night -- complete with a Carly Rae Jepsen performance -- and for the first time ever, two winners were crowned. This season was certainly an interesting one, given its new format without a results show, and because of the new rule about having a male and a female winner.
The female winner is Eliana Gerard. A ballet dancer from Florida, 21-year-old Gerard was Nigel Lythgoe's favorite female dancer this season, and she's already been asked to join Desmond Richardson's company after the show. She beat out Jazz dancer Tiffany Maher, also from Florida, to take the cash prize.
The male winner is Chehon Wespi-Tschopp, whose expertise is also ballet. When asked to showcase a specific piece from the season, Chehon chose to revisit his Argentine Tango with Anya.

The So You Think You Can Dance finale is always a bittersweet time. It's a joyous occasion for whoever wins, but...we're always so sad when the season is over! And though the Fox summer hit only aired once a week in its ninth season, the usual magic applied. Plus, now that all has been said and danced, as promised we've got two winners for a change! Which is great, because who could decide between Cyrus Spencer and Eliana Girard, or Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Tiffany Maher, or Cyrus and Tiffany, or...You get our drift. This finale kicked off, as usual, with the entire top 20 returning to dance a brand new group number, this one by Sonya Tayeh and Christopher Scott, so it was angsty and raw in...

As we count the minutes until Eliana Girard or Tiffany Maher and Cyrus "Glitch" Spencer or Chehon Wespi-Tschopp are crowned "America's Favorite Dancer" on tonight's season finale of "So You Think You Can Dance," we thought it might be nice to pass the time in style.

Some of our favorite all-stars and other "Sytycd" contestants have landed on the big screen over the years, and we're sure hoping some of the Season 9 gang will soon join them.

“You already know how this will end.” That was the refrain of the song chosen by classically trained Chehon Wespi-Tschopp for his final solo of So You Think You Can Dance Season 9, but it was also fitting commentary on the suspense level most of the show’s fans felt going into this week’s telecast. First the good news: "So You Think You Can Dance" has its final four dancers. Tiffany Maher, Eliana Girard, Chehon Wespi-Tschopp and Cyrus Spencer will all vie for America's votes in next Tuesday's (Sept. 11) performance finale.
The bad news: Witney Carson and Cole Horibe were automatically eliminated after receiving the fewest votes.
Even though America decided their fate after last week's performance show, each contestant had to perform three dances tonight: solo, paired with an All-Star and paired with a fellow finalist.
"Up All Night" star Christina Applegate returned as a guest judge -- and poor predictor. "Your foot was terrible in your pirouette," she said about his jazz routine with reigning champ Melanie Moore, "but I don't give a s***, because you're so good. And we'll see you next week."

Perhaps it's his infectious enthusiasm or his clear passion for the show. Whatever it is, "Modern Family" star Jesse Tyler Ferguson keeps getting invited back as a guest judge on "So You Think You Can Dance."
This time, he was on hand to watch yet another powerful performance by all-star Allison Holker. This time, she was partnered with martial arts dancer Cole Horibe, who was asked to portray a sadistic and soulless character.
Cole perfectly captured the character, as he has in previous weeks, bringing the judges to their feet. It wouldn't be their last time on a night filled with strong performances. But it was this one that left Ferguson shaking and in need of a cocktail.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson — “weird and creepy and not a stalker,” he swears — just loves to come back and be a guest judge on So You Think You Can Dance.
