Tim Mutimer, former CEO of international distributor Banijay Rights, is set to lead the global distribution arm of Cineflix Media.
Mutimer takes the reins from long-serving CEO Chris Bonney, the industry veteran who is retiring this year.
The executive will be responsible for leading the 30-strong Cineflix Rights team based in London, Toronto and Dublin, building on the company’s expansion across scripted and factual acquisitions, as well as the growth of its sales business. The outfit has had a major hit on its hands with Apple TV Plus drama “Tehran,” which it distributes internationally.
Reporting to Cineflix Media co-founder and co-ceo Glen Salzman, Mutimer will steer the content strategy for the pipeline from in-house production companies Cineflix Studios, Cineflix Productions and joint venture companies including Buccaneer Media and Connect3 Media, as well as more than 100 third-party producer partners.
Mutimer most recently served as executive VP of Emea at Banijay Rights.

Tim Mutimer, Banijay Rights’ executive vice president of Emea, is to become the new CEO of Cineflix Rights.
Mutimer replaces Chris Bonney, who is retiring this year to play golf and travel the world. Mutimer has worked at Banijay Rights for nearly eight years, five of which were as CEO. He moved out of the CEO seat and into the Emea role after the Endemol Shine International merger last year, during which Cathy Payne was installed as his boss.
Mutimer will lead Cineflix Rights’ team of 30 staff, overseeing a roster of shows that includes Apple’s Tehran and ITV/Netflix series Marcella. Cineflix Rights counts Property Brothers and Border Security among its factual success stories.
“Tim has a wealth of experience in the industry, successfully working with producers, broadcasters, and streamers to maximise IP opportunities. We are confident he will lead Cineflix Rights into the next phase of its growth,...

The TV sands are shifting and attendance numbers of 13,800 were flat, but the mood was upbeat at Mipcom this week. The stars came out, even if the sun mostly didn’t, and new shows were announced, sold, and financed even as the industry continues to grapple with the impact of digital and a wave of consolidation.
The studios were once the Mipcom power brokers – its October timing works well, with fall-season launches on U.S. broadcast networks – but the market chatter now centers on Netflix and Amazon as much as Warner Bros. or Disney. Reed Midem, which organizes Mipcom, captured the mood with the tagline for this year’s event: “The Big Shift.”

When the invite first came through inviting me to Buckingham Palace, I feared the worst. Obviously, I thought, the palace was angry at the recent controversy caused by my panel on The Crown or they’d discovered my teenage love of the Sex Pistols and were planning to send me to the Tower.
However, it turned out I had been invited to watch a documentary about the Queen’s latest environmental campaign including a landmark interview between Her Royal Majesty and Planet Earth’s David Attenborough in the palace gardens.
The ITV documentary, The Queen’s Green Planet, which is produced by ITN Productions, features a conversation between “two of the most consummate professionals on the planet” discussing the 1,400 trees planted in the Buckingham Palace gardens as well as the monarch’s new initiative to create a vast network of native forests across Britain and the Commonwealth – the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy.

Sbs has launched a new campaign to promote its soon-to-launch indigenous network, National Indigenous Television.
Titled ‘Stories from the world’s greatest storytellers’ the Us Sydney-created campaign will run on print, TV, direct, outdoor, online and radio, celebrating “modern storytelling through the generations.”
Nitv will begin broadcasting free-to-air from 12pm (Aedt), 12 December. It will be available on SBS4, broadcasting non-stop, seven days a week.
Nitv channel manager Tanya Denning said in a statement: “We are excited to be able to share our stories with all Australians when Nitv begins broadcasting free-to-air next month. In the lead up to the launch, this campaign is incredibly important in introducing new audiences to Nitv, and letting existing audiences know the move to free-to-air will not change what they know and love about their channel.”
“In every execution of this campaign we celebrate storytelling, an integral part of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
