Ahead of the issue's release next week, we have an exclusive preview, along with a Q&a where Tyler Marceca talks about the origins of the series, working with Mirko Colak, and more!
What was your inspiration for Lunar Lodge and how did you get together with Mirko Colak to bring this story to life?
Tyler Marceca: Though I've wanted to write a werewolf story for a while now, I was reluctant to commit pen to paper on one (or fingers to wireless keyboard) because for so long, I was...

Exclusive: Warner Bros won a wild spec auction, and will pay north of $1 million against low seven-figures for the Tyler Marceca script Stay Frosty. Idris Elba is attached to star and Sam Hargrave (Extraction) to direct. Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will produce with Elba and Hargrave.
After miraculously surviving a bullet to the head, a man has to figure out who wants him dead and why. He needs to stop the assassin while still making it back home in time to spend Christmas with his son. It gives Elba a franchise play in a vehicle that is a big of a John Wick-type character in a throwback to ’80s high action Christmas movies that include Die Hard and Lethal Weapon. WB’s Peter Dodd was integral in bringing this one in.

Every year, film executive Franklin Leonard releases his list, called The Black List, of most-liked unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. This year's list was compiled from the suggestions of 290 film executives, each of whom picked up to ten of their favorite scripts. Since the list started in 2004, many screenplays ended up being turned into films. In 2005, two of the top three scripts were "Lars and the Real Girl" which was nominated for Best Original Screenplay Oscar, and "Juno" which actually won the Oscar. See the 2012 Black List below, broken up by how many votes each screenplay received. Some of the projects are already in the works. 65 - Draft Day (Rajiv Joseph, Scott Rothman) On the day of the NFL Draft, Bills General Manager Sonny Weaver has the opportunity to save football in Buffalo when he trades for the number one pick. He must quickly decide what he's willing to sacrifice in...

There is either a couple of football fans or Jerry Maguire/Moneyball with this year’s most liked unproduced screenplay. Close to 300 hundred film executives provided with the Black List creators a top ten of their favorite screenplays of the year and the consensus first overall pick (with 65 votes) comes from the recently featured in Variety (10 Screenwriters to Watch 2012) tandem of Rajiv Joseph & Scott Rothman and their drama which has nothing to do with enlisting in the armed forces. Draft Day – about the day in the life of a fictitious Buffalo Bills Gm appears to currently be in turnaround — which only means I expect to see this greenlight perhaps a little later than sooner – worth noting: top spot almost guarantees that the film will indeed go into production (2006, 2010 and 2011 are the exceptions.) Among the more alluring logline subjects we find on the list, I’d be keen on reading the...

No, it's not a serial killer's bucket list.
The annual Blood List represents the best dark genre screenplays in Hollywood that have yet to be made. It’s a great way to support community and get word out about all the original films that should be on Hollywood’s radar.
Here’s how it works straight from the source:
The Blood List was created in 2009 to bring attention to darker, genre unproduced screenplays in Hollywood. A calendar year for a script to be considered for the list is from October 31st to October 31st. Voting is done by 100 industry insiders. The list is known as the 'Top horror screenplays list' but also has scripts in the sci fi, fantasy, thriller, and dark comedy space as well.
Genres included on the list are: Horror, thriller, sci-fi, dark drama, and dark comedies. This year 117 feature executives voted. Each executive chose their top...

Movie geeks (and screenplay wonks in particular) have become increasingly aware of The Black List over the past few years, the annual “survey” of hundreds of film industry professionals who vote on their favorite unproduced screenplays. While inclusion on the list doesn’t necessarily guarantee a script’s quality, it does carry with it a certain cache value and respectability. But the Black List isn’t the only survey in the game, with Kailey A. Marsh‘s Blood List picking up the genre slack and utilizing a similar style and method to recognize the “most-liked unproduced screenplays in the horror, thriller, sci-fi and dark comedy/drama genres.” Just in time for the year’s spookiest holiday (forgive us for that one), Marsh has revealed the top 13 scripts on this year’s Blood List. Unsurprisingly, the top vote-getter is Tyler Marceca‘s The Disciple Program, which was snapped up by Universal back in May. The...

Universal Pictures, which enjoyed a hit earlier this year with the crime drama Contraband, stayed in the Mark Wahlberg business by signing the star to the thriller The Disciple Program. Deadline confirmed the deal out of Cannes with Wahlberg co-producing the movie in addition to taking the leading role. Stephen Levinson also joined The Disciple Program as co-producer with Headhunters director Morten Tyldum signing on to direct the script by Tyler Marceca about a man who learns his wife’s death was no accident and sets out to find the people responsible. Wahlberg recently joined Avon Man, scripted by Allen Loeb from an original idea by Kevin Bisch, about a laid-off car salesman who reluctantly takes a job as an Avon salesman, becomes a top producer and convinces his unemployed pals to jump aboard the Avon bandwagon...
