Bill Lawrence and Blake McCormick will write the adaptation of the New Line Cinema film franchise starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker
CBS picked up three projects Monday, ordering comedy pilots from “My Name Is Earl” and “Raising Hope” creator Greg Garcia and “Modern Family” executive producer Bill Wrubel. On the drama side, the network has greenlit a pilot for a television adaptation of the New Line Cinema film franchise “Rush Hour.”
Like the film, the pilot is about a stoic, by-the-book Hong Kong police officer who finds himself partnered with a cocky Lapd officer after he’s assigned to a case in Los Angeles.

Update: Deadline reports that in light of Cameron Crowe’s strong objection to the project, Fox has shelved plans for the TV show.
The future of television has been largely fuelled as of late by a return to the past. Networks are raiding cinema’s back catalogue in order to find their next small screen success. This past month alone, we’ve heard news of a Rush Hour reboot, a Minority Report reboot, and heck, there’s even going to be a do-over of the Tom Hanks 80s classic, Big. While most of those projects have the blessing or direct involvement of their original creators, that’s not always the case. Especially when it comes to Cameron Crowe’s teen angst dramedy, Say Anything.

"Hey, let's turn that movie into a TV show," is a sentiment echoing routinely in the halls of studios around Hollywood, but one filmmaker isn't having it. News broke yesterday that NBC is developing a series based on the '80s classic "Say Anything...," but Cameron Crowe isn't about to raise a boombox over his head and celebrate. Regarding the announcement of a "Say Anything" tv show... @JohnCusack, @IoneSkye1 and I have no involvement... except in trying to stop it. — Cameron Crowe (@CameronCrowe) October 7, 2014 Technically NBC and 20th Century Fox TV have every legal right to move ahead with the show. They don't need Crowe's approval. That said, this isn't the kind of project you want to keep moving if the man who created it is already actively speaking out against it, and doing what he can to prevent it from happening. In case you are wondering what a "Say Anything..." show will involve,...
