The Amazing Race family has lost one of its own as former competitor Jody Kelly has died. The former reality TV contestant was 85 years old. Competing in the CBS hit series’ 16th season in 2010, Kelly ran the race alongside her then 22-year-old granddaughter Shannon Foster. According to Deadline, Kelly died on September 5 in Bemidji, Minnesota, where she’d been attending a Spanish language immersion camp. Kelly hailed from Austin, Texas, and her death was initially reported by the Austin American-Statesman, with the paper detailing her sudden but peaceful death. (Credit: Monty Brinton / © CBS / courtesy everett collection) Born in Ophelia, Alabama in 1938, Kelly was raised in Gainsville, Florida, and spent one year in Wiesbaden, Germany at the end of World War II. She had a PhD in English Literature, which she received from Duke University in 1974. Kelly later taught English at the University of Louisiana for 16 years. She went on to...

On TV this Sunday: We’re back to that “wayyy too much” stage, including a Simpsons milestone, the start of a new Race, the Downton Abbey season finale, Pan Am‘s final flight and more. Somehow, we boiled it all down to these 11 picks.
8 pm The Simpsons (Fox) | In the show’s 500th episode, the Simpsons are evicted from Springfield and join an off-the-grid community outside of town. D’oh!
8 pm The Amazing Race (CBS) | Season 20 premiere: The 11 teams — including a pair of married professional clowns — find themselves skydiving from a plane at 10,000 feet. (Check out the full cast.)

Welcome back Race Fans! Tonight we start where we left off, in Puerto Varas, Chile. Last week the Grandmother/Grandmother team of Jody & Shannon were eliminated, and the Cowboys, Jet & Cord won the leg, and started in first place tonight. Once again, they begin exactly 12 hours after they finished the last leg, so our Racers have been going for 3 days straight! I imagine exhaustion and stress will be taking it's toll. So let's see how they do:
We start out with some beautiful scenic shots of Puerto Varas' snow capped mountains, grassy parks, and antique statues and monuments. It really makes you want to visit this part of the world, and reminds you of the tragic Earthquake that rocked the country this past week. The teams start off taking one of two buses on a six hour trek through the Andes Mountains and cross the border into Argentina. Then they...

It's pretty easy to choose Jody and Shannon as favorites off this season of The Amazing Race. Isn't it cool watching a 71-year-old run the race? But unlike most of the older contestants in previous seasons, Jody is an endurance athlete, having run triathlons and half-marathons. Her granddaughter Shannon also does the same, and with that, you have a team with some physical chops.
Alas, that wasn't to be the case. Luck had a hand in their late finishes in both legs. Their gamble en route to Puerto Varas--taking a bus that leaves later than everyone else but goes direct to the city--almost paid off, but they were eliminated after some difficulty in the Roadblock. In one snap, one of my favorite teams were gone. I had the chance to talk to Jody and Shannon earlier today, Where they talked about the cow that kicked Jody in the head, the triathlons they run together,...

Jody Kelly, 71, got a good-ol' kick in the head on The Amazing Race when a cow clubbed her during Sunday's Roadblock. "I was not expecting it at all," she tells TVGuide.com. "I was so close to finishing and before I knew it, milk was everywhere and I had to start over and milk another cow." The setback allowed detectives Louie and Michael to catch up to and pass Jody, a triathlete, and her granddaughter, Shannon, 22, leading to the pair's elimination. But the axed teammates have no hard feelings toward the cow. Find out why.

The momentum of Jet and Cord continued on The Amazing Race this week, as they made one correct move after another and rocketed into first place.
What the cowboys truly have going for them right now is a calm demeanor. Even while in last place during the premiere, they never seemed to panic or lose perspective on what was in front of them. By remaining serene, Jet and Cord nailed the painting challenge in the premiere and then masterfully handled bus situation from Santiago to Puerto Varas.
Their outmaneuvering of the other nine teams put them well ahead going in the two challenges and they finished the leg mistake free for a victory.
I felt they were the favorites going into the season, but quickly lamented my selection at the start of the race. Now? They look unbeatable.

Helloooo Race fans! Last week our teams traveled to Chile, and this week continue to travel the Chilean countryside, and it is truly a beautiful place to be – even if today's race is a little overcast and rainy.
We start off where left our racers last week, at Valparaiso, Chile, with Jeff and Jordan (Team Jj) in the lead. Teams are allowed to begin this leg of the race exactly 12 hours after they finished the last leg. Team Jj finished at 3:21 pm, so they begin at 3:21 am. and travel back to Santiago, Chile where they then board another bus for a 500+ mile trip to Puerto Varas. Sounds simple enough, right? Wrong!
Team Jj gets to the bus station first, but it is not open yet and we get some amusing footage of Jeff trying to communicate with the Spanish speaking locals using what I can only describe as Spanish sign language,...

Nestled deep in the Andes Mountains is the coastal nation of Chile; the location of this week’s episode of The Amazing Race. Departing from the beautiful city of Valparaiso, frontrunners Jordan and Jeff led the pack. Upon departure, The Big Brother alumni were given a lengthy set of instructions. First, they were directed to the Valparaiso bus station, where they would ride to the Chilean capital of Santiago. Once there, they must take another bus south to Puerto Varas, a trip well over 575 miles. In Puerto Varas, teams had to drive themselves to Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, take a boat trip to Isla Margarita, then hike uphill to Mirador, an outlook over Todos los Santos Lake. Mind you, this cumbersome journey was simply the directions to the first challenge.
While CBS normally reserves a block of seats on flights, trains and buses, such was not the case tonight.
