Whether you love them or wish they'd stop talking about Dave's age, his Achilles and the evils of Brendon & Rachel, you can't deny that Dave & Connor were deserving winners for this "Amazing Race: All-Stars" season. After having to self-eliminate from their first season after Dave's injury, the father-son team won a whopping six Legs -- they'll be taking tropical vacations together for years to come -- and never really faced any serious jeopardy. Did they do anything impressive in that Final Leg to win? Not really. But they got to Phil Keoghan first and that's all that matters. In the process, they became the first parent-child team to win "The Amazing Race" and Dave, as he mentioned so frequently, became the oldest individual winner. In their exit interview, which finally concludes my spring reality exit interviews, Dave & Connor discuss their comfortable "Amazing Race" triumph, Dave talks about his age and...

Does anybody still remember the "Amazing Race: All-Stars" finale? My apologies. I'm apologizing both for how long it took me to get to these exit interviews -- Last week was a bear -- but really I'm apologizing because you still remember what was almost certainly the dullest finale in the 24-season history of the Emmy-winning juggernaut. Brendon & Rachel probably haven't forgotten the finale. That's because they made it all the way to the last Leg of "The Amazing Race" for the second time and, once again, finished in third. And this time, they didn't really do anything wrong. They got a bad cab driver. Yes, they got a little bit lost wandering around the Mirage in Las Vegas, but they were already behind the other two teams entirely because of their cabbie in a Leg that didn't feature a single challenge that allowed teams to wreath themselves in any glory at all.

"Amazing Race" host Phil Keoghan really wants to do an "Amazing Race" reunion. I mention this, because in the two times I've talked to Keoghan in the past couple years, that is the only repeated point. "Survivor" has reunions after each season and Keoghan would like "The Amazing Race" to follow suit. Keoghan and I got on the phone last week to discuss the upcoming conclusion to "The Amazing Race: All-Stars," a season that is heading towards its conclusion on Sunday (May 18) night with Jen & Caroline, Brendon & Rachel and Dave & Connor still in the running for the big prize. We talked about the biggest story lines surrounding each of the remaining teams. Is Dave's quest to become the oldest "Amazing Race" winner a notable one? Are Brendon & Rachel capable of actually being underdogs? And should we be dismissive of the Country Blondes because of the amount of assistance they've gotten from other teams?...

Where have all the Cowboys gone? Well, on last week's "Amazing Race: All-Stars," they were U-Turned by Afghanimals Leo & Jamal, forcing them to perform a second Detour in Seville and effectively eliminating Jet & Cord for the third time on the CBS reality favorite. With their high spirits, stubborn independence and frequently faulty sense of direction, Cowboys Jet & Cord have long been favorites for "Amazing Race" fans and this latest season was no different. As the other teams bonded and bickered, the Cowboys continued to be Lone Rangers and, as usual, that worked out pretty well for them. Jet & Cord won the season's first Leg (and promptly handed over their second Express Pass to Jen & Caroline who, miraculously, remain in the Race) and added one first and four second place finishes. That put a big target on them, which is why Leo & Jamal U-Turned them, rather than sticking with their...

Jet and Cord's "off" day came at a terrible time on The Amazing Race All-Stars Sunday. After making a series of navigation errors in Seville, Spain, the cowboys missed a clue at the bulls Detour and got U-Turned by Leo and Jamal, who reneged on the Accidental Alliance's plan to U-Turn Brendon and Rachel. Their sliver of hope vanished when they were beaten to the second U-Turn by Caroline and Jen, whom they had directed to the Detour clue earlier. "It was just as disappointing watching it back as it was being there," Jet tells TVGuide.com. "It's always hard to get eliminated and it's like reliving it all over again. It's the second time we got U-Turned and eliminated." Check out what else they have to say about their "poor leg," the Accidental Alliance, if they'll race a fourth time and literally riding off into the sunset.

One particular type of mistake ran rampant this week on The Amazing Race: All-Stars, and it completely derailed what was widely seen as season 24's strongest team. The cowboys got lost early and often in "Bull Down,'' and in the end, they were last to the Pit Stop and left wondering what might have been if they'd just asked someone where to go.
We're down to our final four teams, each with their own set of pros and cons for why they deserve to to step on that mat first. While you predicted that cousins Leo and Jamal would win this tenth leg of "The Amazing Race," they came second to father and son cancer survivors Dave and Connor who you had in third. And your second place finishers -- cowboy brothers Cord and Jet-- ended up eliminated after being U-Turned by Leo and Jamal in a strategic move. -Break- Predict winners of other reality TV shows The "Afghan-animals" had been expected to U-Turn power couple Brendon and Rachel but they believed the cowboys to be their stronger competition. I spent my day on the set of Fox's "Broadchurch" remake "Gracepoint" up in beautiful Victoria, BC, so I'm on my own race not-exactly-around-the-world, a race that left me unable to watch Sunday's (May 5) "The Amazing Race" until late, meaning that it's already after midnight as I start on this recap. Fortunately, this is a really easy episode to recap. In fact, there are really only two things to discuss about Sunday's episode, which doesn't mean it was a bad episode. In fact, thanks to one utterly bonkers Detour, it was quite fun. But Sunday's Leg was darned straight-forward and, once again, all came down to an over-reliance on the U-Turn for drama. On to the recap after the break. So let's just get straight to the two major points of discussion, one of which was the sole determining factor in the Leg and the other of which was totally...

Only those with the quickest feet and most courageous hearts can muscle the endeavor of participating in Spain's iconic Running of the Bulls. One moment, participants are sprinting toward immortal glory, the next they're flat on their knees, being trampled by a herd of angry steer. Even though the humorously horned, plastic orb steer in this week's episode of The Amazing Race: All-Stars, "Bull Down," weren't as deadly as their real-life counterparts, they still trampled the race in hopes of getting more than one team.

That was brutal. I really have almost nothing to say about Sunday (April 27) night's episode of "The Amazing Race." It was an hour-long commercial for Ford in which the "result" was never in question. For the duration of the episode, my notes are nothing more than "Ugh" "Blech" "Boo" and "God, I hate these people." I'm going to be going into the season's last two episodes rooting much more aggressively *against* several teams than I'll be rooting *for* anybody, which I guess is what the producers want at this point. It's all about passion and "hostility" is a kind of passion. And if you would have told me in February that with two weeks to go, Brendon & Rachel would be one of the two teams I'd kinda like to see win this "Amazing Race: All-Stars" season, I'd have told you that you were crazy. But that's what "The Amazing Race" has done to me.

I don't know if you've heard me mention this lately, but I hate the Double U-Turn. I say the same thing every season. I debated it with executive producer Elise Doganieri, who smiled and ignored me. If you get to the U-Turn and discover you've been U-Turned, you should be bounced directly to the other side of the Detour. When you get sent directly to jail in Monopoly, you've been sent Directly To Jail. You don't get to collect the $200 if you happen to pass Go, because it occurred in the process of the act that was sending you to Jail. The second the card says "Go to Jail," you've been boomeranged on your way to Jail. Period. Full stop. If you hit the U-Turn mat and you've been U-Turned... Boing. Off to the other Detour with you. The first act is to step on the mat and see if you've been U-Turned.

If you ask me for a preference between Country Blondes Jennifer and Caroline, I'll always go with punchy, pint-sized Caroline, she of the reliable zingers and ace comic timing. But Jennifer had the smartest observation in Sunday (March 30) night's "Amazing Race." Musing on why this season has been difficult, Jennifer noted, "Nobody makes mistakes." That's not exactly true. Natalie & Nadiya couldn't find a wedding dress shop in China over several hours and they went home. Mark & Mallory went back to get Mark's bag and they went home. Joey & Meghan didn't tell their driver to stay at a Roadblock and they went home. And last week, Margie & Luke couldn't get tickets for a good flight leaving Kuala Lumpur and they went home. At least in the early-going of this "All-Stars" season, it hasn't been that nobody's been making mistakes, but it's certainly been the case that, generally speaking, it's been nearly...

Sunday (March 23) night's installment of "The Amazing Race" came down to one decision made in the first 15 minutes of the episode. I'm not saying there was a "right" answer or a "wrong" answer in the moment, but the choice was made early and once it was made -- incorrectly, as it turned out -- there was nothing left to the episode and what followed was a 45-minute anti-climax. That's too bad, because this was perhaps the first episode of the season that was well-structured in terms of Detours and Roadblocks, featuring difficult tasks that had the chance to shake things up in terms of team placement. I write "had the chance to," because they didn't. This week's Top 4 was last week's Top 4. And last week's Top 4 was 3/4ths of the previous week's Top 4. We've had five Legs so far, which means 20 Top 4 finishes. The teams now in the Top 4 have *15* of those finishes.

This week's fourth episode of the "The Amazing Race" turned out to be the first of two non-elimination legs this season. So, while you won't rack up points for predicting which of the remaining weight teams would be eliminated, you still score them for telling us who made it to the finish line first (Cord and Jet), whether they used their Express Pass (they didn't) and if there was a U-Turn (there wasn't). -Break- Overall, our odds predicted that first place finish by Cord and Jet. However, we had Margie and Luke reaching the finish line last just behind Brendon and Rachel; that order was reversed in reality. As this was a non-elimination leg, the newlyweds will have to complete an extra task next week. Congratulations to alex movieland who scored an impressive 908 points with his predictions. Mark it down: On Sunday, March 16 at somewhere around 8:50 p.m. Et, after annoying seasons of “Big Brother” and four episodes into their second season of “The Amazing Race,” I found myself liking Brendon & Rachel. Look, I’m not proud of myself and it really didn’t last for very long -- perhaps only a minute, in fact -- but this blog is about nothing if it’s not about absolutely honesty. So if I ever try saying, “I’ve always hated Rachel & Brendon,” you can now call me a liar, because there it was, the moment that I warmed to Brendon & Rachel. And that totally justifies their presence on this “All-Stars” season of “The Amazing Race.” No? Oh well. Did it at least justify Sunday’s episode of “The Amazing Race”? No, again? Oh well. Throughout most of the second leg of The Amazing Race: All-Stars, I was convinced that Jet and Cord's first-to-worst run to the Chen Clan Academy was going to be the biggest blunder of the week. Even though they didn't lose their cool and recovered nicely to avoid elimination, none of the other teams seemed to be screwing up that much.
It also could have been damaging to the cowboys if they had given the Express Pass to the only team behind them at the time, but they were done building the toy car with three other teams still working on it when they handed it over to the country singers. Likewise, Joey and Meghan cost themselves one spot in the standings when they helped Jessica and John.

Season 24 of "The Amazing Race" started on Sunday (February 23) night with an episode that inverted the show's ideal momentum. There was a shocking, sad and emotional twist before we got to the opening credits, but then 50 minutes later, the episode concluded without any cursory effort at creating suspense or tension. And the editors couldn't have created tension even if they wanted to, as the "All-Stars" season began with a purely designed Leg featuring two needle-in-a-haystack -- not especially big haystacks, either -- plus a Roadblock that failed to inject even an iota of difficulty into the game. NBC has pulled the plug on Ironside and Welcome to the Family. Both shows’ replacements — Chicago Pd will replace Ironside while Community will take Family‘s place in the Thursday line-up — won’t air until January.
In better news, Fox has ordered a full season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and America’s new favorite gay TV cop. Even better, the show will get a spotlight by airing after the Super Bowl, along with New Girl.
CBS also ordered full seasons of its new comedies, Mom, The Millers and The Crazy Ones. Combined with Brooklyn Nine-Nine, I think we’ve got four shows that are potentially great but still finding their voices. I hope this will be enough time.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Amandla Stenberg, who many of you will recognize as Rue from The Hunger Games (or the idiotic, racist outcry) will be appearing on Sleepy Hollow, playing Orlando Jones‘ daughter.

The Amazing Race Review, Season 22, Episode 3
“Like James Bond Again”
Airs Sundays at 8pm (Et) on CBS
When 58-year-old David O’Leary apparently ruptured his Achilles tendon at the end of last week’s leg, his quick departure felt certain. How could he possibly continue? The guy is in excellent shape, but this type of injury is no joke. The Amazing Race requires great stamina and speed, and there’s little chance he can skip every physical challenge. This week, the doctors confirm that David ruptured his Achilles and the muscle around it, so they seem doomed. However, crutches and a walking boot allow him to continue. They’re living on borrowed time, but it’s remarkable they can even keep going. John and Jessica help out with the Express Pass, which sends them first to the mat. The young couple wisely sees a solution to their dilemma with handing out the prize.

The finale of Season 19 of The Amazing Race, "Go Out And Get It Done," had the potential to be awesome... but was quickly devoid of excitement. The race designers put together a challenging leg that could have been very dynamic, yet two key mistakes eliminated any drama.
In recent seasons, the final leg has been known for having a great challenge. That is, some activity that regular people would not be able to do unless they were on something like a television show. In addition to being fun, often the challenge proved to be difficult and potentially race determining.
This season was no different, with what we can only assume was the fun Lear Jet simulator. Although the challenge did not determine the winner, it did eliminate one team. Jeremy and Sandy completed it on their first attempt and Ernie and Cindy only failed once. Amani and Marcus needed twelve tries,...

The Amazing Race had a surprisingly rocky 18th season. The notion of bringing back 11 fan-favorite teams who failed to win their first time around seemed like a great idea in theory, but in practice, the decision to bring back eleven teams that resolutely were not All-Stars meant that longtime Race fans just had to watch some teams make the same old mistakes. (Tell me if you’ve heard this one before: The Cowboys got lost in the cities, the Goths got lost in the countryside, Jaime yelled at taxi drivers, and poor old Mel White just couldn’t keep up with the competition.

Great cast, great beginning, slow ending.
Compared to the previous seventeen seasons, this was probably the best season we’ve ever seen. Teams like Flight Time and Big Easy, Jet and Cord, Zev and Justin and Gary and Mallory carried the show. Watching them race was high entertainment from start to finish.
Unlike Survivor, however, The Amazing Race is as much a product of the course that is laid out as it is of the people who race it. No matter how entertaining the people are, if the course is not dynamic, there’s only so much the racers can do.
The start of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business was chock full of dynamic challenges, interesting legs and surprises. As the number of teams got whittled down, the legs became less creative. By the second hour of the finale, the last leg of the race, we watched a leg where...

The past few seasons of The Amazing Race occasionally foreshadowed that week’s leg with clips from the team’s pre-leg interviews.
This was certainly true on this week’s episode "Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen," but an even trickier foreshadowing moment occurred right after the Detour.
At the beginning of this week’s episode Justin commented “Ever since we hit the cold weather we’ve been running first.” Was that a sign that Zev and Justin would win another leg if they stayed in cold weather? Or perhaps the opposite if they were sent to warm weather?
Similarly, Kent commented “I feel like we become a better team the longer this race goes on”. Had the Dating Goths talked out how they needed to act to be successful? Would Kent and Vyxsin finally have a drama free leg?
Typically the foreshadowing on The Amazing Race is not as...

This leg of The Amazing Race started in Liechtenstein, a tiny country with the second highest gross domestic product per person in the world. No one really knows it exists, unless you are disgustingly wealthy and don’t want to live in Dubai.
The first task was straightforward: “measure Liechtenstein.” One member of each team was asked to traverse the itsy bitsy country on an itsy bitsy scooter. After riding through the Alps looking like a real life Looney Tunes character, each rider was required to estimate, in kilometers, the length of the country.
Justin arrived first and gave the correct answer: 22 kilometers. Jen overheard Justin and repeated the number. Then both Justin and Jen met their teammates at Gutenberg castle and zoomed off via train to Zermatt, Switzerland, a city at the base of the Matterhorn, which is a really tall and famous mountain in the Alps. It is a popular destination for mountaineers,...

They survived back-to-back close-call legs, but cowboys/brothers Jet and Cord McCoy couldn't make another comeback on The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business Sunday. After Jet was the only Racer to redo the Roadblock of measuring the length of Liechtenstein — and was left out of the answer sharing circle — the fan favorites had their fates sealed when they were U-Turned by the Globetrotters in Zermatt, Switzerland. Still, the self-proclaimed "lone rangers" don't think their independent style of racing hurt them in a leg where so many teams worked together. "If we had an alliance with the Globetrotters, I think in the same situation, they would've done exactly what they did," Jet tells TVGuide.com. "An alliance might give you that warm, fuzzy feeling, but I don't know if it's going to save you." See what else the Season 16 alums have to say about their exit, if they would've used the U-Turn and why Gary rocks.

We were all surprised and upset to see Jet and Cord, the Amazing Race Cowboys, eliminated this week after the teams shared information with each other and conspired to shut the cowboys out. As we may have expected, Jet is just as nice as can be. We asked him about his experience on The Amazing Race and his feelings on how that final leg turned out.
Your team was definitely a fan favorite, and people were pretty upset that you were eliminated because all the other teams shared information. How do you feel about the way that final leg was played? Do you think it was fair for the other teams to conspire against you?...

True confessions time: I found myself frustrated and disappointed at the end of Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business. It didn’t help that my second-favorite team had been eliminated, but ultimately, it was the way they met their demise that didn’t sit right with me.
Early in the episode, the six remaining teams faced a Road Block in which one member had to measure the entire length of Lichtenstein on a motorized bicycle, then reveal the correct distance (22 km) to Olympic skiier Marco Buchel in order to receive the next clue. “The map is pretty straightforward.

Watching the end of this week’s leg of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business I now know what it must feel like to have to choose between your two children: awful.
The reality that the cowboys were going to be towards the back of the pack, if not last, was evident very early after Jet messed up the Roadblock. However, we were able to dream that another team would get U-Turned as well and Jet and Cord could use their speed to make up ground, pass a team and avoid a last place finish.
As the Detour wore on, however, it became obvious that a worst case scenario was developing. The cowboys would be U-Turned, alright. But one by one each of the teams I wanted to see forced to do the other half of the challenge - Kent and Vyxsin, Kisha and Jen or Gary and Mallory – skated by...

The Sunday, April 24 episode of "The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business" started off in Austria where six remaining teams caught a train to Liechtenstein. Once arriving there, they faced a Road Block which told them to measure the entire length of the country on a motorized bike (a Solex), using an odometer and a map.
Gary and Mallory, who arrived in last place in previous leg, faced Speed Bump in this Road Block. They had to make fuel for their Solex with gas and oil as the extra task. Justin was the first who guessed the distant correctly, followed by Jen who heard his guess. Once Justin collected Zev and Jen was back with Kisha, the two teams were on board a train to Zermatt, Switzerland where they faced a detour.
Gary, Vixen and Flight Time all finished at the same time since they helped each other with the correct mileage.

Here is Sean Furfaro's recap of The Amazing Race, Episode 9
Tonight's episode of The Amazing Race finds the six remaining teams heading off to Liechtenstein and Switzerland for a Cheese Feast and Motorcycle Ride. Will Gary and Mallory be able to overcome their Speed Bump? Let's get to it.
My Random Thoughts:
- This week’s episode started off with a continuation of last week’s commercial for the all-new “2012 Ford Focus”, as Zev and Justin took a tour of the spiffy new vehicles that they won last week. Ok, ok…I’ll admit defeat and just accept the overt product placement this season, by let me ask you an interesting question about those cars: Why did they have Michigan plates? If you’re going to give away a car in Austria, are you really going to ensure that the plates are from Detroit? The Motor City? God Bless America,...

Jet McCoy & Cord McCoy eliminated from "Amazing Race 18" in episode 9. Tonight's episode kicked off with scenes from last week's episode when no one was eliminated due to a non-elimination week. However, Gary & Mallory did show up last in the previous episode,so they had to face a "Speed Bump" that none of the other teams had to. Then the teams were told they had to take a train to Liechtenstein to get their next clue. They also found out that a double u-turn would be available in this round. Once the teams arrived in Liechtenstein, they ran into a Road Block.

Sunday night’s installment of The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business contained one of those Detours that seemed as easy as choosing between a soothing massage or a thwack in the stomach with a two-by-four. And yet midway through their travels in Vienna, Austria (or according to the Globetrotters “where the Terminator is from”), three of the six remaining teams — Zev and Justin, Kisha and Jen, and Gary and Mallory — shocked me by opting for “quick, easy meal” over “long, hard walk.” Maybe it’s just me, but whenever a food challenge crops up on Amazing Race, it seems like there...

After seven tremendous legs, The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business finally had a disappointing leg. Many of the facets of the previous legs that made them so interesting and challenging were missing from the eighth leg.
For starters, the previous seven legs featured difficult challenges that forced the leading teams to be efficient or risk allowing the trailing teams to get back in the race.
Heading to the Roadblock this week, Gary hoped aloud that the challenge would be difficult allowing him and Mallory to get back in to the race.
The chimney sweeping Roadblock was fun and culturally interesting, but didn’t shake up the standings at all.
To be fair, the Detour prior to the Roadblock was definitely challenging and provided some drama to the leg. Who would have guessed that the Quick and Easy Meal option was virtually impossible?
Fortunately for Jet and Cord, they didn’t choose it.
