Though there are many reasons to watch 9-1-1, the newest addition to ABC's long list of procedurals, many eyes have been glued to the show for the past couple of months because of the queer storyline coming straight from fans' most daring fantasies into canon. Evan Buckley became the center of attention, and now his arc continues.
But no matter how much the writers do to satisfy viewers, the shippers are still far from achieving their goal of making their ship a reality. While Buck explores a new side of himself in his relationship with Tommy, Eddie is torn between a stable life with Marisol and sudden ghosts from his traumatic past. And fans have every right to assume that will not change.
Will Buck and Eddie Get Together?

Following the early seasons of 911, Hollywood star Connie Britton left the series, and many fans wondered why.
Britton was part of the main 911 cast upon its initial Fox debut in 2018. She portrayed Abby Clark, a dispatcher in the 911 call center who helped send Los Angeles' first responders across town to where they were most needed.
Abby also had a short but interesting relationship with Oliver Stark's Evan Buckley, all while caring for her mother, Patricia, who suffered and eventually died from Alzheimer's.

ABC’s series 9-1-1 marked a special moment in its 100th episode premiere. Australian actor Oliver Stark, 32, who plays firefighter Evan Buckley, shared an onscreen kiss with Lou Ferrigno Jr.‘s character, Tommy Kinard.
Stark has been a part of the show’s main cast since its premiere in 2018. Stark’s character has had numerous onscreen romances, but this is the first time his character was seen with a man.
“Humbled and overwhelmed by the positive reaction to Buck’s storyline,” the actor shared on his Instagram Story. “I’ve read so many of your messages, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
“If you are one of the smaller group of people commenting on my posts about how this has ruined the show. I would like you to know that I truly don’t care,” he said. “This is a show about love and inclusion. It’s featured queer relationships from the very beginning,...

Evan Buckley and Eddie Diaz were on top of the world when 9-1-1 wrapped its sixth season on Fox, both embarking on exciting new relationships with women that seemed perfect for them. But one of those firefighters could find himself considerably less lucky in love when the procedural returns on Thursday, this time on ABC (8/7c).
Let’s start with the not-so-good news: “The Buck and Natalia situation is addressed pretty early in the first episode back,” Oliver Stark (aka Buck) tells TVLine. “We learn a little bit about the things that have gone down since we last saw them,...

When 9-1-1 was canceled, our hearts sank.
Luckily, the cancellation came with a caveat: Fox's former flagship series was being picked up by rival network ABC.
It was a stunning decision that came after a booming 9-1-1 Season 6, which saw the series re-embracing many qualities that made it such a success from the onset.
At the time, Disney Television Group president Craig Erwich said:
"Thanks to the creative drive of Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, as well as the talented cast, 9-1-1 has been one of the most defining and original dramas on network television over the last six seasons, and we are honored to bring it to the esteemed group of series on ABC."
When the last season wrapped up, all the principal characters were in a solid place, with the 118 even doing some bonding on the roof, memories of their most recent triumphs playing fresh on their minds.

This is Day 94 of the WGA strike and Day 21 of the SAG-AFTRA strike
SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher joined striking actors and writers in New York on Thursday morning, telling picketers outside Paramount headquarters in Times Square that her union won’t agree to any deal with film and television studios that leaves members unable to make a living.
Two days after she testified about the strike at a New York City Council hearing, the Queens native rallied fellow union members with a promise to stay true to their demands once negotiations resume with the AMPTP.
“I’m so thrilled to see this level of enthusiasm and resolve and strength, and I promise you that we are not going to compromise,” The Nanny star said. “This is a seminal deal and there is no turning back. At some point you have to say we’ve had enough: We’re not going...

Evan Buckley lives!
It was touch and go for a while there, but after his coma fever dreams during 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 11 that saw Buck desperately trying to figure out how to get home, Buck took a breath, and all was right in the world again.
Oliver Stark does some heavy lifting during this hour, and he pulls off an incredible performance as Buck navigates this surreal world where nothing is as it seems. Stark was nice enough to take some time to jump on a call and answer some of our pressing questions after that emotional hour.
Stark's responses were incredibly candid and kind, from talking about the Buckley parents to his new couch and what to expect from the rest of 9-1-1 Season 6.
It's always a pleasure to speak with the charming actor, and I hope you guys enjoy this one!

Spoiler alert: Evan Buckley is in big trouble.
At least that's how things are left as the end credits rolled during 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 10. Unresponsive and headed to the hospital, Buck was in dire straits, and the 118 was working feverishly to bring him back to life.
With Buck's life very literally hanging in the balance, 9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 11 looks to be a little break from the typical 9-1-1 hour. We'll see Buck in a self-described fever dream, where he imagines a life in which he never became a firefighter. And it's hard to fathom a world like that ever existing.
Buck's identity is so intrinsically tied to his profession, so it's odd to think of him doing anything else with his adult life.
But it's a fascinating premise for an episode, and it allows the series to try something a little unorthodox as they continue to explore Buck's journey this season.

Where do we even begin?
9-1-1 Season 6 Episode 4 had a lot going on, and usually, the busier the hour is, the more enjoyable it is. And I think it's safe to say this was another decent hour in a much-improved season.
Though, I must admit there is one storyline above all else that has me the most interested and concerned.
Every season it feels like Buck is looking for growth and understanding. That's kind of his M.O. at this point, and that's not even a knock on him because it's true to life. He's a man entering a new phase of his life, learning about himself and figuring out what he likes and what he doesn't like.
Breaking off a relationship and choosing himself was a big step in the right direction for him at the end of last season, and so far this season, he's been on...

What are you afraid of?
Whether it's something big, small, or somewhere in-between, we're all afraid of something. That's just what it means to be a human with emotions. And while all fear isn't bad, how you deal with your worries can be the biggest struggle of all.
9-1-1 Season 5 Episode 13 was all about the f-word, and we found some of our favorites struggling when confronted with some of their most crippling uncertainties.
If anyone knows what they're trying to do with Buck and Taylor, please let me know in the comments because I'm not following.
Why the show feels the need to cling to this sinking ship is hard to understand, and even during this hour, they totally teed up the breakup and had the perfect out for both of them. But instead, we get these two hanging onto this relationship by the seat of their pants.

Long live the 126, even though it's going to be a fight to keep it.
It was a wonderfully balanced, entertaining hour that utilized all of the characters and gave Mateo some much-needed time to shine on 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Episode 14.
Unfortunately, they threw a hell of a curveball at the 126 fire family, and the beloved firehouse may get shut down permanently.
The season stepped up its game with the disaster events, and once again, parts of the hour felt inspired by a disaster flick.
The dust storm was an impressive depiction to showcase. In some ways, it felt as if Austin got dropped into the middle of a war-torn village. It grew increasingly chaotic as the storm continued, and keeping in vein with the thrilling aspects of the crossover hour, 9-1-1: Lone Star Season 2 Episode 3, we got a few explosions and another aircraft crash, too.

Buck's gonna Buck.
That should have been the title of 9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 14 because while it was an installment that touched on a little bit of everything and tied things up, it felt like Evan Buckley's hour.
Which is fitting because Buck truly is the heart and soul of 9-1-1.
Things picked up right where 9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 13 left off, except when we last saw Buck, he was pretty frozen. But as shots rang out everywhere, he jumped into action, and he was the one who pulled Eddie to safety.
Buck proceeds to then spend much of the rest of the time having an existential crisis about his expendability, which may seem extreme, but it's not for someone like Buck, who has a ton of trauma he is still actively dealing with and working through.
He's always felt like he wasn't valued or loved, and even...

How well do you know your neighbors?
Perhaps your neighbors are your very best friends in the world. Or maybe they’re people you just occasionally not to when you’re both taking out the trash on Sunday nights. Or they could be the person you just went on a painfully awkward date with if your name is Evan Buckley.
9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 7 was all about your neighbors and whether you honestly know anything about the people who live closest to you.
Michael has been sidelined for much of the season, and it’s unfortunate, but it makes sense in a way. 911 has tackled the pandemic head-on, and Michael has medical complications and shouldn’t be showing up at Athena’s or the firehouse or anywhere else.
He’s been relegated to his immaculate apartment, where he spends his days looking out of his beautiful telescope at a host...

If there’s one thing you need to know about Evan Buckley, it’s that he will never leave anyone behind.
That has been true of Buck his entire life after a childhood spent feeling neglected and forgotten by parents who failed him. But that only pushed Buck to work harder and to achieve something for himself.
And 9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 5 shed some light on the story of Buck. And what a story it is.
Thus far, all of the ‘Begins’ stories have been beautiful hours that give us a greater sense of the characters we’ve grown to love over the past few years. And it allows us to see who they were before they found their family at the 118.
For Buck, his adolescence was spent doing anything he could to be noticed.
Unbeknownst to Buck, his parents were in a constant cycle of grief, denial, and blame,...

What's the old saying from childhood?
'Secrets, secrets are no fun. Secrets always hurt someone.' It was true when you were a child, and it still holds up into adulthood.
The Buckley family has been keeping Buck in the dark his entire life. But the cat's out of the bag now, as 9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 4 found Buck finally let in on the secret everyone has been keeping from him. So, where do we go from here?
Buck has felt like an outsider his whole life. He's had Maddie, sure, but it's been evident since we were first introduced to Evan Buckley that he's been a bit of a loner and a one-person wrecking crew.
That's why the relationships he's forged at the 118 are so important to him. Because those people are the mainstays in his life, they are the ones who have his back not only on the...

That didn't exactly end with a cliffhanger, but it sure did feel like one in a lot of ways.
The Buckley family has secrets, and as Maddie gets closer to starting her own family, she's ready to start exposing those secrets. And we can gather from conversations in 9-1-1 Season 4 Episode 3 that one secret will shake Buck to his core. And he won't even see it coming.
9-1-1 continues rocking and rolling this season, further cementing its status as one of the best scripted dramas on television today.
After three seasons, we're finally digging deeper into the family life of Evan Buckley, and quite frankly, it's about time. Seeing as how we have two Buckley's on the show, it makes sense that we would eventually meet the parents and dive into their dynamics.

It’s been a minute since 9-1-1‘s Evan Buckley was in a stable, committed relationship, so when Chimney mentioned on Monday’s fourth season premiere that Buck has been chatting online with a new “Covid crush,” fans’ collective interest was instantly piqued. Naturally, we had to hit up executive producer Tim Minear for more details.

It’s never a bad time to dramatize the very busy and dangerous world of 911 first responders. This year, however, Fox’s long-running drama 9-1-1 will prove particularly resonant. Fox announced that it had renewed 9-1-1 for season 4 back in April of 2020, which was right near the beginning of the United States’ struggle with Covid-19.
The show’s production experienced some delays before launching in October of 2020. Now, 9-1-1 season 4 is set to arrive soon, and will have plenty of dramatic ground to cover. This is all to say that yes: coronavirus will play a factor in season 4’s scripts, according to showrunner Tim Minear.
“The characters on the screen will have gone through what the audience has gone through,” Minear told TVLine. “There may be flashbacks that will show what our people went through at the height of the (pandemic), but by the time we resume physical production,...

Like it or not, shipping has become a huge part of television. Almost everyone on every show has one or more relationships you can't help but root for.
However, there are some characters whose romances always fall flat. And, if they don't, they never seem to be for the long run.
We put together a list of TV characters who need to find themselves a decent love interest.
Evan Buckley - 9-1-1
Buck's relationship with Abby was an odd one, and, while they weren't the worst couple out there, they definitely weren't the best. After Abby left the show, Buck's love life was put on the backburner, and no matter who he was paired with, Buck didn't have chemistry with any of them.

“9-1-1” actor Ryan Guzman is apologizing defending the use of racial slurs after some of his co-stars called him out on Twitter.
Guzman, who plays firefighter Eddie Diaz on the Fox procedural, came under fire Sunday after taking to Instagram Live to defend both himself and his fiancée, Brazilian actress Chrysti Ane, for using racial slurs.
Soon after, Oliver Stark — who plays Evan Buckley, best friend of Guzman’s character –weighed in to oppose Guzman’s remarks, saying, “there is no excuse for the use of the N-word.” So did Aisha Hinds, who plays firefighter “Hen” on “9-1-1.”
“How I Feel daily is a perpetual state of Grief. There’s sadly no version of this indefensible discourse that doesn’t exacerbate that grief. There’s legions of learned behaviors that need to be named and neutered so we don’t continue to give life to them. May we know & Do Better,...

Updated: Actor Ryan Guzman on Monday apologized after 9-1-1 castmates Aisha Hinds and Oliver Stark — along with a-number of fans — took to Twitter Monday to denounce his defense of his and his fiancée’s use of racial slurs including the N-word.
In an Instagram video (you can watch it below), Guzman said, “I do not condone the use of the N-word by any non-Black person. That includes all Latinos. That’s not our word.”
Guzman, who plays firefighter Eddie Diaz on the Fox drama, faced the backlash with an Instagram Live post on Sunday in which he defended his fiancée Chrysti Ane’s response to old tweets that resurfaced in which she used slurs — as he did as well. Ane since has apologized on social media, but Guzman said in the video that and his multicultural friends “call each other slurs all the time.” Watch the video below.

A pair of co-stars of Fox’s “9-1-1” procedural are at opposite ends of a debate surrounding the use of racial slurs.
Ryan Guzman, who plays firefighter Eddie Diaz on the show, came under fire Sunday after taking to Instagram Live to defend both himself and his fiancée, Brazilian actress Chrysti Ane, for using racial slurs. Soon after, his co-star Oliver Stark, who plays Evan Buckley, weighed in to oppose Guzman’s remarks, saying, “there is no excuse for the use of the N-word.”
Guzman and Ane first came under fire in May when some of Ane’s tweets from 2011 resurfaced in which she used the N-word. She has since apologized, but added that at the time she was in a relationship with a man of color and “felt accepted by the black community,” which lead her to feel comfortable using the slur.

Here’s one you don’t see every day. Fox just put out a new promo for Night 2 of its season finale of 9-1-1. Nothing unusual there, but the clip shows guest star and original series regular Connie Britton using the work “f*ck.”
At least that’s what the closed-caption transcriber heard:
Note that the promo the network sent to the press on embargo is not the one that ended up on YouTube, so we won’t embed it here.
Anyway, Britton’s Abby Clark — who co-starred as a 9-1-1 operator in Season 1 of the series — returns as a victim of a terrible train crash. She calls the emergency line and gets Maddie Kendall (Jennifer Love Hewitt). Among the first responders at the crash site is Evan Buckley (Oliver Stark), the guy everyone calls Buck — and who had a relationship with Abby in that first seasons.

Evan Buckley is such a kind soul.
That was on full display during 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 16, as Buck got a glimpse into what his future could be like if he continued down the same path.
While it was a heartwarming story, it felt like the beginning of a much larger journey for Buck.
Buck has always been a rambunctious, confident man who takes great pride in his work. And it’s that love of the job that has carried him over the past few years.
He’s pretty consistently put the job first, and he hasn’t seemed to waver from that thinking. It’s what lead him to file the lawsuit, and it’s cost him relationships.
But meeting Red got him thinking about what the rest of his life could be like if he kept on doing what he was doing. Would he always be alone?

And just like that, the disaster trilogy comes to an end.
After two breathtaking installments, 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 3 was the perfect ending to the tsunami saga.
It was another beautifully crafted hour of television that showcased all the things this show does best.
Buck's frantic search for Christopher was heartbreaking on every level. And every time we saw Buck, he just looked more and more beatdown.
It showed physically how much Christopher's sudden disappearance had just shattered his soul, but he never gave up searching.
And that's exactly what we've come to expect from Evan Buckley.
It's not until the end of the day he finally gave in and had to say out loud the one thing he'd been fearing all day.
