After a successful career as a film composer, having co-scored a bass-heavy, thumping background for Resident Evil: Afterlife and something more foreboding for True Blood TV promos, where was Filip Mitrovic to go as a musician? He decided to create an act known as The Elkcloner (in reference to a computer virus of olde), and created a sound based entirely on live recordings. He cites the likes of Tom Waits, Angelo Badalamenti, Massive Attack, Bartok, Portishead, Bjork and Miles Davis as his inspiration, and after listening to just one of his tracks, it's immediately apparent why. Like Tom Waits and Bjork, he defies typical melodic structure with light, airy vocals that seem to drift over the meandering but Massive Attack-esque rhythmic bass line.
