A few days ago the filmmakers behind the flick Muck challenged us to take the Als Ice Bucket Challenge. We nutted up (and our nuts have been hiding since), did it, and offered a challenge of our own!
Like those who have come before us, we put a horror twist on the challenge by filling our buckets with ice, water, and of course 2 pints of stage blood as a means to do something good while frightening our neighbors at the same time.
Being that I had "blood" in my eyes and my body was still in shock, I didn't get my partner Jon Condit as good as he got me, but holy shit, let me tell you guys... that was rough. The liquid was indescribably cold... but hey... good cause, right? Adam, Joe, Brooke? You're up!

On July 4th, 2006, Dread Central opened its doors, and for nearly a decade now we've been bringing you constant horror content every day since. No holidays. No days off. We're always here, and we are always happy to do so. So it's with great pride that we wish you, our readers, a happy anniversary!
Being a writer in the web business is not easy. There are so many bumps along the way that it gets hard to remember the smoother patches. One thing that doesn't change, though, is how absolutely worth it it all is.
You guys give us a platform, and we do our best to honor that gift. We've made each other laugh, screamed over our disagreements (complete with Caps Lock On), and have learned so much from one another. Every day that we get to do this is a blessing, and in an industry where so many websites comes and go,...

It's hard to believe seven years have passed since Dread Central opened its doors on July 4th, 2006, declaring our independence from those who were holding us back, but alas... it is so. This past year has been stranger than most, but truth be told, that's how we like it.

Six years ago Dread Central opened its doors on July 4th, declaring our independence from those who were holding us back, and the lunatics have been running the asylum ever since. The road thus far has been winding and unpredictable, and we wouldn't want it any other way.

Recently members of the press were invited to a bone-chilling event at La’s infamous Linda Vista Hospital to explore the realities of exorcism as revealed in the upcoming DVD release of the film The Devil Inside (Blu-ray/DVD review here).
While there we got much more than we bargained for.
Originally opened in 1904 by the Santa Fe Railroad, the once heralded hospital fell into disrepair by the 1980s and became known for its high number of patient deaths. Now long-abandoned and rife with tales of terrifying happenings throughout the decades, the hospital provided an ideal setting for a foray into the world beyond what we see...
Attending press learned about the hospital’s chilling manifestations from members of the "Boyle Heights Paranormal Project" and spoke with cast members from the film Suzan Crowley (“Maria Rossi”) and Bonnie Morgan (“Rosa”) as well as Maja D’Aoust, the White Witch of Los Angeles.

Here we are. Finally at the conclusion of our in-depth interview with "Ghost Adventures" frontman Zak Bagans (read Part One here and read Part Two here). Closing things out, Zak talks about what's next for him, shares his dream investigations, and answers some of Your questions.
Having been to and investigated so many different haunted areas across the world, Zak waxed on about what would be his ultimate ghost adventure ... "I’d like to kind of get a break from American history and American spirits. Go deeper. I’m so interested in how certain cultures, thousands and thousands of years ago, had the beliefs that they did. How they were able to build the way they did. They lived on a different planet, man. They didn’t live on Earth. Or Earth as we perceive it today. As far as I’m concerned they were like different beings. They knew...

This week's episode of Same Shit, Different Show involves a guest that DC readers/listeners are already more than familiar with. And while you may hear Buz and Andrew Kasch on a monthly basis via Dinner For Fiends, this is an entirely different kind of conversation - and every bit as entertaining.
From Buz's site: "This week's guest is one of my dearest friends, Andrew Kasch, whom I owe most of my career too (along with Jon Condit, and Steve Barton). This is another super long episode, so be prepared for a download. So kick back, relax, and enjoy two friends discussing all the different times we’ve almost died trying to make it in this damn town."
It's a casual and candid conversation ranging from lucky breaks to the juggernaut project known as Never Sleep Again, with lots of laughs and fun along the way.
Head on over to Buz's Same Shit,...

Speaking as Steve Barton and not Uncle Creepy here for a moment. I am going to get personal so if you don't want to read this, please just move on to another story. I'm allowing myself this space as a means to finally work out all this stuff that's been lingering in my head and maybe share something with others who are going through the same thing I have been for the last ten years.
On September 11th, 2001 thousands of people were lost. Tragedy had hit Stateside on a devastating level. One of those gone was David L. Worse than anything a filmmaker could possibly conjure. Because of all traffic in and out of Manhattan...

Some of you may have noticed over the past few months that Dread Central articles have periodically strayed from the horror genre. That was just a test run for the big news. Much of the Dread Central staff will soon be migrating over to our new website, Geek Terminal, a web portal covering movies, TV shows, comic books, video games, etc. News that's important to the internet fanboy community.

Here's an interesting and completely unexpected news item coming in for everyone's favorite Chernobyl-like celebrity, Charlie Sheen. It seems as if since his schedule is now free, he could be appearing on, of all things, Season 2 of the "The Walking Dead".
According to The Hollywood Reporter's Live Feed Blog Robert Kirkman, writer of the graphic novels and executive producer of the hit AMC television series, tells THR he would love Sheen to appear in the second season.
"Charlie call us, we will totally make that happen! We'll do whatever you want. We'll recast You as Rick," says Kirkman, still speaking to Sheen with tongue very much in cheek. "Andrew Lincoln will find something else to do."
Other options? "He can direct an episode," says Kirkman. "Actually (Sheen) could play a car for all I care," he adds. "He's awesome."
Though Kirkman's obviously kidding (we think), this got us wondering ... Has...

In 1983 David Sheldon was busy shooting Grizzly 2: The Predator, aka Predator: The Concert. Grizzly 2 boasted early performances by George Clooney, Laura Dern, and the Internet's current golden boy, Charlie Sheen, who plays a hiker who serves as the bear's first victim.
The film would later become somewhat of an urban legend as far as horror movies go due to the fact that it was never completed. Supposedly the film was released as a TV movie, but no official release has ever been made theatrically or on home video. Here's the synopsis:
All hell breaks loose when a giant Grizzly, reacting to the slaughter of Grizzlies by poachers, attacks at a massive big-band rock concert in the National Park.
Rumors abound as to what the actual reason for the film's incomplete nature was. From misappropriation of budget to bankruptcy lawsuits, faulty animatronics, and even an issue over the rights to the Grizzly title itself.
