DC Comics has announced a new four-issue DC Black Label series coming this September titled Plastic Man No More. The Eisner-nominated creative team of Christopher Cantwell (Batman: The Brave and The Bold) and Alex Lins (Immortal Hulk) are teaming up for what's being described as a "Hard-Boiled Plastic Man Noir."
The character remains a firm fan favourite and there have long been rumblings about him taking centre stage in a movie. Unfortunately, none of those have ever really come close to happening, though that may change under the watch of DC Studios and James Gunn.
As for this series, here's the official description:
Eel O’Brian might be a superhero now - but before he was anything else, he was a crook. Until the accident that turned him into the pliable Plastic Man, Eel was bad to the bone...and just because he no longer has bones doesn’t mean that’s not still true.

The legacy of heroes and monsters has littered the comic biosphere on paper as well as in film. Just as James Gunn’s Dcu begins to take shape, the comics have also begun to rev up their production to keep up with the new DC chief’s ambition. But while major superheroes fight for the spotlight, one underrated superhero quietly steps out of the shadows to experience the miserable end of his days.

For years, he has utilized his writing and producing talents on television series such as Everybody Hates Chris, The Boondocks, American Gods, and Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. Now, in addition to continuing his innovative work on the screen, Rodney Barnes is using his cinematic skills to tell compelling, unpredictable, and creepy stories in the world of comic books.
In a new Q&a feature, Daily Dead had the great pleasure of catching up with Rodney to discuss the latest projects on his prolific comic book slate, including working with Jason Shawn Alexander on the current six-issue story arc of their comic book series Killadelphia (in which the stakes have never been higher), continuing the story of an iconic cinematic character in the new graphic novel Blacula: Return of the King (which also features artwork by Jason Shawn Alexander), and teaming up with artist Alex Lins on...
