(Welcome to Scariest Scene Ever, a column dedicated to the most pulse-pounding moments in horror with your tour guides, horror experts Chris Evangelista and Matt Donato. In this edition, Matt has a close encounter of "The Fourth Kind.")
With the release of Brian Duffield's "No One Will Save You" on Hulu this week, I wanted to revisit a freaky alien abduction flick that doesn't get enough attention. Olatunde Osunsanmi's faux documentary thriller "The Fourth Kind" approaches extraterrestrial horror from both an inquisitive and frightening angle by treating the story as real. Osunsanmi uses Alaskian isolation as a backdrop for otherworldly horror, preying on our fears of little green men who the government just confessed do exist. I can't even say aliens tie into fears of the unknown anymore. What a world!
Osunsanmi creepily distorts realism and movie magic to make you believe what you're seeing actually happened. I mean,...

To celebrate the release of Giddy Stratospheres which will be available on digital download from the 19th July, we have a digital download copy up for grabs courtesy of Bulldog Film Distribution.
Giddy Stratospheres follows Daniel (Jamal Franklin) and Lara (Laura Jean Marsh), indie-kid soul mates in the centre of the storm of guitars and broken glass that was the 00’s indie music scene. Beautiful, mischievous, dishevelled, and on a quest for the ultimate euphoria and excitement that comes with dancing and thrashing on the front row to your new favourite song by your new favourite band. They don’t miss a gig. They don’t miss a beat. But as the night draws to a close, a darkness looms in the shadows of the after party. And the next day Lara can’t quite work out why Daniel is so desperate for her to remember the events of the night before.

“Be not afraid of greatness. Some are born great, some achieve greatness and others have greatness thrust upon them”
Scott and Sid is the (slightly fictionalised) true tale of two young boys meeting for the first time, knowing they could never be friends because they are simply too different from each other. One is a foster kid who doesn’t get on with his foster father, has been to five different schools within the space of four years, a troublemaker and a dreamer. The other is a nerdy teen who just wants to be normal, to make friends and not have to put up with his drunken state of a mother anymore. When Scott turns up at Sid’s school and there’s no seat for him except the one next to Scott, Sid kindly offers him it. However odd the combination of the two boys are, it marks the start of something beautiful.

Chicago – Here’s the most desperate film in many a moon. It tries harder than any recent horror picture to prove that its artificial horrors are real. What it lacks is the subtlety and suspense necessary to actually scare viewers. “Blair Witch Project” did it with ominous sounds in the dark. “Paranormal Activity” did it with time code. Both films proved that in the case of psychological horror, less is always more.
“The Fourth Kind” collapses under the weight of its excesses. It begins with its star Milla Jovovich introducing herself as “actress Milla Jovovich” who will be portraying the real-life “Dr. Abigail Tyler” in the film. She explains that the film will utilize actual archival footage and audio from Dr. Tyler’s sessions with patients, before ending with the warning, “Some of what you’re about to see is extremely disturbing.” It sure is, though not in the way the filmmakers had intended.
