Larry Wilmore expressed his solidarity with Brian Williams on The Nightly Show Monday night, addressing the embattled NBC Nightly News anchor "as a fellow purveyor of fake news" before trying to explain why it's understandable he got his stories crossed. "Once I reported I cold cocked George Foreman in his grill," Wilmore joked. "Turns out, I just put cold cuts on a George Foreman Grill."
To Williams' credit, Wilmore explained, the newsman's confusion over events that did or didn't take place while he was reporting in Iraq are a...

Sally Field has admitted that she hasn't received a call about the proposed Mrs Doubtfire sequel.
The actress - who played Miranda Hillard in the 1993 comedy - said that her character's divorce from Robin Williams's Daniel could rule her out of appearing in the follow-up movie.
Asked about the sequel on The Late Show with David Letterman, she said: "I don't know. They didn't call me, but I was the mother that divorced [him], so she's probably off on the Al-Qaeda ranch somewhere."
However, she did suggest that she would be open to appearing in the film if she is asked to be involved.
When Letterman suggested that she won't be in the film, she replied: "Why? I don't know."
Last week, it was announced that Williams is set to reprise the role of Mrs Euphegenia Doubtfire, with Chris Columbus (Harry Potter) set to direct the film.

David Letterman mocked recent reports of a death threat against him during his monologue on Monday night. The Late Show host was targeted by an internet jihadist last week, who posted an apparent threat on a website frequented by Al Qaeda members after taking offense at a joke made by Letterman about the death of an accused terrorist leader. Letterman opened his Monday monologue by telling the audience they were "more than an audience tonight" before quipping: "You are more like a human shield!" He went on to joke: "I'm so sorry I'm a little bit late coming out. Backstage I was talking to the guy from CBS, we were going through the CBS Life Insurance Policy to see if I was covered for jihad. > David Letterman 'increases security after jihadist threat' "You are not going to believe what happened. David Letterman has reportedly increased security on the set of his late night show following a recent jihadist threat. The Late Show with David Letterman host was the target of an assassination threat earlier this week over a joke he made about the death of accused terrorist leader Ilyas Kashmiri. "He showed his evil nature and deep hatred for Islam and Muslims, and said that Ilyas Kashmiri was killed and he joined bin Laden. We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck," wrote an online commentator on a known Al Qaeda website. According to The New York Post, security presence at the Ed Sullivan Theater in Manhattan where the show is filmed will be increased on Monday when Letterman resumes taping. The (more)...

David Letterman is being targeted for assassination by online jihadist. Site intelligence group revealed on Wednesday, August 17 that a Muslim militant issued a death threat against the host of "Late Show with David Letterman" on an extremist networking site where messages from Al Qaeda frequently appear online in the United States.
Accordingly, the commenter who goes by the name Umar al-Basrawi was angered by the joke David made about the death of one of Osama Bin Laden's lieutenants, Ilyas Kashmiri. While the talk show host isn't a Jewish, Umar called on Muslims in the United States to "cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever."
"He showed his evil nature and deep hatred for Islam and Muslims, and said that Ilyas Kashmiri was killed and he joined bin Laden," part of the millitant's death threat posting also read. "We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck.

U.S. chat show host David Letterman has become the target of a terrorist death threat.
A website frequently used by members of terrorist group Al-Qaeda has posted an assassination threat against The Late Show host.
Muslims have been urged to kill the late-night presenter for making jokes about the death of accused terrorist leader Ilyas Kashmiri, who was killed during a U.S. airstrike in Pakistan in June.
Umar al-Basrawi, the man who first posted the threat, wrote: "Is there not amongst you a (terrorist) Sayyid Nosair al-Masri (may Allah release him) to cut the tongue of this lowly Jew and shut it forever. Just as Sayyid (may Allah release him) did with the Jew Kahane... We ask Allah to paralyze his tongue and grant the sincere monotheists his neck."
Sayyid Nosair al-Masri was tried for the murder of Rabbi Meir Kahane in 1990.
EW.com reports the threat was made on Shumukh-al-Islam - a site where messages from Al Qaeda frequently appear.

Like most Americans, the hosts of the various late-night shows were jubilant at the news that U.S. Navy SEALs had killed Osama Bin Laden on Sunday (May 1).
Unlike most of us, they had a bigger platform to make jokes about the Al Qaeda leader's demise. A sampling of the best lines from around the late-night spectrum Monday night, including a few where the various hosts and their writers had similar ideas:
'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'
"It looks like President Obama has a new campaign slogan: 'Yes I did.'"
"Before they made the announcement, the White House wanted to be absolutely certain that it was Bin Laden. In fact, do you know who they brought in to do the DNA test? Maury Povich."*
(*Jimmy Fallon also did a version of that joke, joking that the DNA testing would be "the best episode of Maury Povich ever.
