Warning: contains Alf Stewart spoilers.
Just because you’ve lost touch with someone doesn’t mean you don’t want to know when they fall into a sinkhole. That the point of Facebook – for keeping an eye on the triumphs and misfortunes of people you once knew but now can’t be bothered to talk to. Soap characters though, aren’t on Facebook. The closest you can get to nosing on their timeline is checking out the front covers of TV listings magazines in supermarket queues to see who’s been getting married/murdered or, commonly, both.
It’s shameful when you think about it. Soap characters are people with whom we probably spent half an hour a day, five days a week, for years and years and years. Then adulthood calls and pouf! It’s sayonara Harold, goodnight Madge. Take Alf Stewart of Home and Away. Once, the man was your straw-hatted rock.

In Lost Child an Army veteran suffering from Ptsd returns home to see her brother but before she does she discovers a young boy living in the woods. From this she discovers local town folklore about monsters and demons which make her question taking the child in.
The story sounds like a typical low budget horror but thankfully Lost Child never really heads down that route despite constantly teasing to. And I’m still not sure whether I would have preferred it to or not. Instead it takes a much more serious tone with hints of horror but a more real-life horror. The demons are both real and imaginary.
Lost Child does have a slow pace to it.

Belinda Emmett's brother Shane has joined the cast of Home and Away temporarily. Shane said that his sister, who played Donald Fisher's daughter Rebecca in the Aussie soap before losing her battle with cancer five years ago aged 32, haunted him all over the Home and Away set. He told The Sunday Telegraph: "Of all the gigs, I knew it would be difficult because Belinda spent so much of her professional time there. "There are a lot of the characters Belinda used to work with still there, so I found myself surrounded by her." Shane further explained: "I'd come out of the green room and there'd be Belinda on the cover of TV Week on the wall. In many ways it was a little sad, but it was also nice to be able to connect with her in that (more)...
