If it were up to us, "Project Runway" would never be "out," it would just play on a loop 24/7/365.
Sadly, Season 14 will say auf wiedersehen on Thursday, November 5th, so now seems like a good time to take stock and rank the previous 13 seasons, with the expectation that the 2015 season will probably fall somewhere in the middle of the pack once it's done. (Tim Gunn "hated" Season 14, but there have been worse.) Every season of PR is a precious, unique little rhinestone, but, like the judges, we have our favorites -- and now it's Our turn to be biased.
So here's our very subjective but still definitive worst-to-best ranking, which may only be challenged by a glare from Nina Garcia, an eye roll from Michael Kors, a "make it work" from Tim Gunn, or an "out" from Heidi Klum.

The winning designer spills on his contestants, (and who he ‘can’t stand’), the best piece of advice he got from the judges and what he plans to do now that he was named the winner of the competition!
Congratulations are in order for Anthony Ryan Auld, the designer crowned victorious on Project Runway All Stars Season 2! In an Exclusive interview with HollywoodLife.com, the talented young designer reflects on a season of stunning looks and dishes on upcoming collaborations and collections! The best part is — he’s not afraid to call other designers out on their drama. The All Stars season brought back some of our favorite designers of seasons past, and Anthony Ryan was not about to let his big second chance go to waste. Having only made it to seventh place in Season 9, he described this time around as “my second chance to show who I am as a designer.

"Let's face it, I'm tired!"
It's the final episode! Would it provide any surprises?
No.
Actually, that's not true. There was one huge surprise. The designers are told they have four days to create their final mini-collections, but they don't have to to go it alone. All of the eliminated designers are brought back, and each finalist gets to pick one to help them get to the runway. This was expected, as it's been done ... on every Project Runway. The surprise is that Anthony Ryan picks new Bff Joshua to help him ... and Josh says no.
Unfortunately, it's not bitchiness that keeps Josh from offering his services (which would have been believable), it's something far more ... understandable. He's just ... tired.
Emilio chooses Althea, and Uli chooses Casanova, who apparently must be in a "dark place" too.
Let's take a look at how each of the designers fared!

Anthony Ryan Auld became the second winner in Project Runway: All Stars history in Thursday night's episode of the Lifetime competition. The 29-year-old designer from Baton Rouge, La., took the title over Emilio Sosa and Uli Herzner after the final challenge, which called for the trio to design a mini collection in just four days with a budget of $3,000. Photos: 'Project Runway: All Stars' Season 2 Cast: Meet the Designers (Again) Auld's collection was titled "A Thin Line" and focused on the use of color-blocking and cutouts. It came down to a battle of the seasons on "Project Runway: All Stars." Uli Herzner represented Season 3, while Emilio Sosa was from Season 7 and Anthony Ryan from Season 9. Herzner wound up in third, despite getting rave reviews from the judges for her "Winter Wonderland" theme. That left the final spot between the more recent contestants.
Ryan had been impressing the judges all season long, winning a record five challenges during the course of the challenge. He unveiled his "A Fine Line" collection, and had a dress that judge Isaac Mizrahi called the best dress he's ever seen on the show. All season long it seemed that this show was his to lose, and he did not disappoint.
In the end, it looked like it was a close call between all three finalists, but Anthony Ryan came out on top with a collection that truly impressed the judges, and especially...

Put down those sewing needles and drop that thread. The results of Project Runway All Stars season two are in. So, which designer stole the judges' hearts and walked away with the ultimate prize? None other than season nine's Anthony Ryan. In tonight's season finale, the three remaining designers—Uli Herzner (season 3), Ryan and Emilio Sosa (season 7)—battled it out to complete their collections for the final runway show in just four days with a budget of $3,000. Ryan, who won a record five challenges during the show, continued to wow the judges' panel, which included Georgina Chapman, Isaac Mizrahi, Liv Tyler and Margherita Missoni,...

Project Runway crowned its second All-Stars champ Thursday night. In a typical all-stars twist to make the competition more difficult (and more torturous!) the remaining three designers only had four days to complete a full mini collection with as many (or few) pieces as they wished using a budget of $3,000.

Tonight wraps up the second season of Project Runway All Stars. Three designers are left: Uli Herzner, Anthony Ryan Auld and Emilio Sosa. As always, the judges’ feedback has been pretty even among the three so it’s hard to say who has the advantage. If you look at challenges won, however, Anthony Ryan is the clear favorite to win with 5 challenges under his belt. Emilio & Uli each only have 2 wins in comparison. But wins, shmins. It’s all up in the air tonight during the Project Runway All Stars finale. And just to keep Project Runway fresh in [...]...

Where the hell are they?
After last week's shock that Josh created something decent enough to force the show to keep him in the competition, would he defy the odds again and make it to the final three?
No.
But he did force a runoff with Uli, which was a surprising and actually suspenseful turn of events (and which Uli dubbed "The Hunger Games.")
The challenge this episode is to design a couture gown. They get more money than they've ever had, plus a trip to Paris to find inspiration at the House Of Valentino. Needless to say, they are ecstatic, but I was bitterly disappointed that we didn't get to see any of the plane ride over. I can't be the only one wondering ... Coach? Given Lifetime's budget, I think the odds are pretty good. And I have a terrible vision of Anthony Ryan being stored in the overhead compartment.

It was a first -- and an incredibly high pressure situation for two of the contestants -- on "Project Runway: All Stars." When the judges couldn't decide which of the bottom two designers to eliminate, they decided on an impromptu challenge. It would happen right there on the runway.
The designers were given one hour to deconstruct their dresses and repurpose them into entirely new looks. The judges hoped that this daunting task would help them make their decision. It didn't. Instead, both designers simply blew them away with what they were able to accomplish in that extraordinary situation.
"My mouth just dropped to the floor when both of your looks came out, because for one hour it’s just kind of extraordinary what you’ve done," Georgina Chapman said.
Cynthia Rowley took it one step further with her comment, saying, "I think it’s a hilarious f*ck you to all of us,...

And you thought Top Gun couldn't be any gayer.
We're getting down to the final episodes, which means the producers have to work overtime to manipulate the outcome to get the final that they want. That was certainly the case this week, as a wrench was thrown into the well-oiled machine. A wrench named Joshua.
Josh has repeatedly been in the bottom three, and was dangling by a thread, and it seemed a certainty that he would be booted, leaving the top three Anthony, Emilio, and Uli, but he did the unexpected this week ... he made something good.
The challenge this episode is to create a look for a female veteran that she can wear to an upcoming event. It was a terrific version of the "Real Woman" Challenge, and it affected Josh more than any of the other designers. As he tells Joanna Coles, it hits close to home for him,...

We start the show on New York City’s iconic Fifth Avenue, where we see the designers ogling the windows of one of the biggest designer’s offices. They go into the Elie Tahari store where they meet the one and only designer himself. This challenge’s prize? Elie Tahari is going to manufacture, produce and advertise the winning designer’s look! The proceeds go to Save the Garment Center, which is the cause that Mondo and I designed for last ‘All Stars’ season.
Emilio is seeing this challenge as an opportunity to showcase his ability to have a strong functioning business.

How can you root against this?
This week the designers have to create a ready-to-wear "wow" look while meeting a retail budget of $700 - $900. Their guest mentor and judge is Elie Tahari, who actually goes into the workroom with Joanna Coles to talk to the designers and assess their unfinished designs. It's the first time this season that the guest judge has entered the workroom, and I think it should happen more often, because it was one of the most affecting moments of the entire season. The designers learned his bootstrap backstory while receiving advice and encouragement about navigating the world of fashion.
The best moment of the show was when Anthony video chatted with close pal Matthew, who said he was giving up "Beer Night" at work to talk to him. But that's what best friends do for each other. And I'm glad My Sweet Anthony has someone to...

What in the holy hell is going on?
Sadly, the warm glow of last week's Kylie Minogue appearance has faded, and we're back to another could-have-been-interesting but ultimately lackluster challenge. But we did get one truly bizarre moment that says ... something ... about the phoniness of reality shows. But I'm not sure what.
This week the designers have to create a look for the modern woman based on the 1920s. But they also have to team up (and compete against each other). Anthony and Ivy are assigned a "speakeasy" look, Emilio and Joshua have "garden party," and Uli and Laura have "Social Soiree," which is redundant, but nevermind.
Laura holds up her Soiree card, the camera switches for a split second to Uli, and when we come back to Laura, the card now reads "Soriee." We all know that the designers have to go back and reshoot scenes to add dramatic or comedic effect,...

I don't know if it was the excitement of super special guest judge Kylie Minogue, or because the "unconventional challenges" are usually a lot of fun (if not fashion forward), but this was one of the most entertaining episodes of a very lackluster season.
The designers meet Carolyn Murphy at a NYC shipyard because ... well, I have no idea why the designers met Carolyn Murphy at a NYC shipyard. It makes no logical sense, because it has nothing to do with the challenge or with the introduction of some bigwig watchmaker, who tells them that the winner will receive a fancy watch. Actually, I was hoping Josh was right when he predicted a pirate theme, because I'd love to see them work with eyepatches, peg legs, and dead shoulder parrots.

"And now you will be hunted, one by one."
There's no getting around it ... this was a terrible episode. The designers have to use "green" materials to make a red carpet look, but all that means is that they forced the designers to try to create something un-ugly from the tackiest, ugliest swatches we've ever seen on Project Runway. We're talking sub-sub-motel curtains.
I have to give the designers credit for coming up with what they did, considering what they had to work with, but none of the final designs are what you'd call memorable. But at least they kept a sense of humor, and it's telling that the highlight of the episode was Casanova announcing that he smells, "Like a rat die in my armpit," which is a perfect metaphor.
So how did each designer do? Let's take a look. [photo_gallery|node_id=48409]

This week had the potential to be interesting, but the challenge was just too random to be completely compelling. The designers had to choose a picture from one their "fans" on "Social Media," which in this case means Twitter. They had to create something to complement the picture, while not copying it.
For me, the highlight was watching Anthony Ryan discuss being diagnosed with cancer, and how he charged full steam ahead with his life while undergoing chemotherapy. I only remember a handful of these people, but oh well. The group meets up at Parson's for the first time, where they continually call one another "amazing" in various forms. But wait - there's another contestant, and it's the hilariously amazing (pardon the expression) Wendy Pepper from season one! She's been known as a total bitch (not my words, I swear) and she's vowed not to change this time around, either - after all, (more)...

After the underwhelming Season Ten of Project Runway, I'm not sure it was a good idea for Lifetime to plunge immediately into a new cycle, as its easy to experience burnout (and this is the second All Stars series this year).
But luckily, this batch of designers is road tested for drama, skill and just a drop of crazy, so maybe they can deliver some excitement ...or at least, tears and slapfights.
The designers meet up, get acquainted (or re-acquainted), new host Carolyn Murphy informs them that the winner will receive the biggest prize in Runway history, with cash and fashion crap totaling $350,000 dollars, and then they are immediately thrust into the the thick of things (this series is only an hour an episode, which adds to the frenzy and eliminates the dull spots, thankfully).
Mentor Joanna Coles has them choose teams, and each team is assigned to create a mini collection with "attitude.

We can quibble about the name Project Runway: All-Stars, since I don't see prized contestants like Nick Verreos or Jillian Lewis in this lineup, but the second installment of Lifetime's alumni competition is probably going to be entertaining all the same. Truly. There are enough wild cards at play here -- each equipped with a wildly different skill type and level -- to make the season worth a run. The only problem? We need to rank which of these all-stars is destined for success. So here, just two days shy of Thursday's premiere, my predictions for the rankings of Project Runway All-Stars' new season. Spoiler: Pretty sure I made it work, guys.
13. Peach Carr
Now, I am a human being, so I love Peach Carr, her constant catchphrasing (Loved when she said that her skirt wasn't short enough to "show the good china?), and her ritzy suburban Chicago flair.

Tim Gunn is unquestionably one of the smartest and most candid figures to gain fame as a reality show regular. As the designers' mentor on Project Runway, he's critical and honest, even if in subsequent interviews he sometimes seems like a shill for the contestants. (Calling season three runner-up Uli Herzner's eye for great prints "second only to Diane von Furstenberg" was and is a stretch.) Still, he's a thrillingly articulate professional. On yesterday's episode of his panel show The Revolution, Gunn enjoyed another moment of refreshing candor, admitting he hasn't had sex in 29 years. He's broached that topic before, but it's time we compile his proud moments of (often harsh) truth-telling in one place. Here are my favorites:
On relishing his 29 years as a single man
"The truth is, I don't have time to be a good partner. Relationships take commitment, and all my energy goes into my work.

Lifetime Heidi Klum on the Ninth Season Premiere of “Project Runway.”
Zomg. It’s Season 9 of Project Runway. We’ve got hillbilly truckers. We’ve got pretty, pretty princesses. We’ve got more rompers than you can shake with a Mood tape measure.
We begin with 20 designers but only 16 will be in. Four are booted before it even begins! Will there be a Santino Rice? A Daniel Vosovic? An Uli Herzner (what, you don’t remember her fabulous print/pattern sense for hot climates?...

First, The CW announces an all-star version of America’s Next Top Model. And now, Lifetime tells us that we’ll see some of our favorite reality stars back on an all-star edition of Project Runway?! Is 2011 just a year-long Christmas?! Because this is quite a gift to us pop-culture junkies: In addition to a ninth season of the Emmy-nominated fashion competition, the network will air Project Runway All Stars, eight one-hour episodes featuring previous contestants. This makes it slightly different than the two-hour Project Runway: All-Stars Challenge, which saw the return of players Jeffrey Sebelia, Santino Rice, Daniel Vosovic,...

And now, boys and girls, a message from the New York City Metropolitan Transit Authority. They would like to thank the Project Runway judges and contestants for repeating the phrase throw someone under the bus more times than the turnstiles at Times Square-42nd Street can count. Reminding viewers of the great invention that is public transit does wonders for business. Still, the Mta must also point out the importance of public transit safety. Fun as it may be to joke about on reality television, you really should never throw anyone under the bus. Ever. It has catastrophic consequences. For instance,...

Hurray! There does indeed seem to be life after reality television for the worthy and able. Let us put our proud, fiercely fashionable hands together for Project Runway season 4 castmates Christian Siriano and Chris March, who nearly made me weep with nutty fan pride last weekend when they dressed two ravishing divas for the Golden Globes. Siriano wrapped voluptuous Mad Men beauty Christina Hendricks in a cocoon of ruffled peach silk, while March made Best Actress winner (and perennially brilliant woman) Meryl Streep look stunning in a drapey black gown that showed off her lovely neck and shoulders. Of the two,...

As we approach Fall Sweeps, the fall season is full ramped up and ready to go, with a slew of renewals and suspensions, new ratings giants, old favorites continuing to fade out, and the World Series finally ending so we can go back to our regularly scheduled programming.
In ratings news, the headline for Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday was "World Series dominates ratings." The World Series hit a 5 year high this year with viewers, ranging from 16 to 22 million viewers a game. In Tuesday ratings news, V, which faced a large number of hurdles in getting on the air, debuted to huge numbers. While not able to beat TV ratings goliath NCIS (19.4 million viewers), the ABC science fiction had a healthy 13.9 viewers and won the ever important 18-49 age range for viewers.

Daniel Vosovic came out as champion of the champions when he grabbed the winning title on "Project Runway: All-Star Challenge". The special edition that was aired prior to the sixth season of "Project Runway" crowned the season 2 runner up who beat the show's other former contestants such as Sweet P, Santino Rice and Uli Herzner with his athletic line.
"I feel so much more confident. I know the woman that I'm dressing and my point of view is much more clear this time around," Vosovic commented on his victory. "Hearing people who have been in this industry for a collective amount of 50, 60 years - this is some experience that we're taking about. To have these industry people say, 'Daniel, we're proud of what you created and we want to see more of you,' that hit it home for me."
Vosovic created an elegant black-and-white ensemble that helped him winning the competition.

It's finally time to make it work! Project Runway is back. We can't wait to see what Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn have in store for us in season six. Just thinking about it gives us almost as much glee as some of the best challenges from the previous five seasons. So we've compiled a special video top 9 of the most exciting tasks given to the designers from previous seasons. Considering the show is so fierce, choosing wasn't the easiest job. That's why we're leaving no. 10 in your hands. You won't find Kenley Collins weeping, Rami Kashou draping another Grecian dress or Uli Herzner selecting another crazy print here. These design situations are all sew totally...
